Favorite current-production metal framed 9mm?

Forgive me if I'm incorrect, but it seems that the CZ-75's and copies thereof, especially the Tanfoglios, have been mentioned the most.

My FiL and I both have a lot of service pistols, and the CZ-75 family are our favorites. My FiL might bring his 1911, Beretta 92, Glock 22, Smith & Wesson M&P, Springfield whatever, (and so forth and so on), but if he also brings his CZ-75, he will shoot it better than any of the others.

I can shoot certain revolvers and 22's better than my Tanfoglio 9mm, but certainly not any of my other service pistols.

Every pistol doesn't fit every hand and eye identically, but if it feels good to you, that would be my first recommendation.

I am kind of old, and have shot a whole lot of pistols.

These two cost $330 apiece plus shipping and FFL. They are both Israeli surplus. The only service pistols of mine that I can shoot almost as well are my Sig P-series.

I had a P226 when they first came out and while I liked it a lot more than the comparable Beretta M92 at the time it was still a bit of a reach for me ergonomically. Sights were good too but the DA/SA trigger could have been better.

Fast forward a bunch of years and I come across a LNIB P229R with the E2 grips, night sights, and the SRT. What a big difference from the old trigger on the P226 and the E2 grips are very comfortable for someone like myself with small hands.

I have and really like shooting steel frame pistols and some polymer but all hammer fired. Sig P226 MK25 and CZ75 SP01 Tactical are my favorites with Kimber Micro 9 for carry. I am a firm believer that the steel and its weight make for a really smooth shooting pistol.

I’m tired of polymer. What’s your favorite current production all metal 9mm? I’m not a Sig P series fan, but there is the Beretta (Taurus), Kahr, a 1911, maybe a CZ....what else am I missing?
Ah, a topic near and dear to my heart.

My favorite is the CZ series, although I technically have and prefer the pre-B (no firing pin block, rounded trigger guard). The one I have in my avatar.
From there, I'd say Beretta 92 and Sig P226 (which I have), then maybe we could toss in Lionheart LH9 (I have a Daewoo DP 51, which is the same gun without the cosmetics).

I have a few out of production (technically the Hi Power even falls into this, although Tisas is now making them).

I know you said production gun and I posted my CZ75 Single Action Only , but it's kinda hard to leave out one of the all time most reliable 9mm all metal guns ever made. The Ruger P89. You can still find them used but they run and run and run. They are fat and chunky but they will function through all kinds of **** . And a lot of guys hate to admit it , but these Ruger P89's will out run and function where the high dollar Sigs and such wont. Here's mine . IMG_5253.jpg

No longer in production but the S&W 5906 is available, inexpensive, built like a tank, and a pretty decent shooter.

CZ 'PCR' 75D. It's the only current-production 9x19 mm I've ever owned.

The three Sigs from the 90's (P228s) and '01 (P6) were acquired due to the quality, and with the Sig P6 for the additional reason that it's No Longer manufactured.

Since it has to be in production, my favorite would be the BERETTA M9A3. It has a smoother action than the run of the mill BERETTA 92's. I compared them side by side and the M9A4 is smoother. I also prefer the VERTEC grip.

I just wish they offered a D model with double action only and no slide mounted safety.

The reason it feels smoother is because it comes with a factory "D" spring. A $9.00 part that can be easily put in any M9/92 variant. Beretta also offers a few other models direct from the factory with the "D" spring.

I also prefer the VERTEC grip.

While the D model M9/92 are uncommon, if you don't want the lever to act as a safety, there are "G" models (decocker only) available and most of the FS guns can be converted to "G".
