I was just curious to know what is everyone's favorite chambering for the Redhawk. It just has so many nice options. If I had them all I'm not sure I'd be able to pick.

Currently though all I've got is the 45 Colt/ACP Redhawk so I guess it wins for me.

I'll say .45, but more for Colt and not ACP. If Ruger would make a 7 inch .45 Colt Redhawk, I'd be down to buy one, but Ruger doesn't seem interested in .45 Redhawks as they've apparently dropped the .45 Colt only with the Hogue grip.

The only other chambering I'd like to see with the Redhawk, not that it's practical at all, but just for kicks, is .327 Magnum. Just the thought of a 9 round centerfire revolver makes me giggle.

It would be nice to have more options for the 45 Colt Redhawks, that's for sure.

As far as other chamberings I wish that they would bring over the 454 Casull and the 480 Ruger to the regular Redhawk.

Yeah, I don't see why they couldn't do .454 in a 5 shot Redhawk. Way more power than I'd ever need, which is why I stick with .45 Colt Rugers.

They can do the Redhawk in .454 casull with a 6 shot. The gun is strong enough to do it. You can take a super Redhawk cylinder and fit it to a Redhawk. It doesn't need any further modifications I believe our own @MaxP has such a beast.

Here is mine in .45 Colt/ACP if you do not reload this is the ultimate big bore. The use of ACP loads is amazing and the ammo is generally everywhere being second only to the 9mm in terms of availability. You can still buy some bear stomping loads if you so feel inclined or use plinking loads. Because of the extremely strong cylinder being able to take loads in excess of 50k PSI you can use all the other loadings such as .45 Super, .45 GAP, .45 Win Mag ,and .460 Rowland with NO worries that you might with say a 625 Smith. Can you tell I'm a Redhawk fan? IMG_20190217_205147708.jpg

My favorite Redhawk is a 357/44 Bain & Davis mag.

The Redhawk is far too large for the limited power of the 357mag, such I find that particular chamber unwieldy.

The 45colt and 41mag are reasonable options, but I feel they remain under-bore for the platform. If you’re running pressures up to Tier 3 Ruger Only levels, then the 45colt version is really in its groove.

The 44mag is the Redhawk round which makes the most sense for me.

Indeed, a 454c Super Redhawk cylinder can be transplanted into a 45colt Redhawk to live a long and happy life with full pressure, Earth-shaking 454c loads. Same frame, same yoke, just different barrel, grip, and lockwork designs.

I would love to have one in .357 maximum
Pretty sure the cylinder's not long enough, hence the .357/44 B&D, and of course there are special "Ruger Only" loads out there for the standard .357 case.

Im happy flinging 125 and 158s out of mine at factory velocities. Accuracy suffers greatly when using .38 cases though.

I thought it was? Its one of the few guns that can accept a 405 gr .44 caliber bullet (it doesn't work... Trust me) oh well if it cant it cant

Have you shot .460 Rowland thru it? How were the results?

I've got a 7.5" Redhawk in 44 Mag. TBH, I'm on the fence about it.
Not about the cartridge, but the revolver itself. It's just not all that.

I have a 9.5" Super Redhawk that I love, but to me, the Redhawk is neither fish nor fowl.

The .357 Mag. Redhawk is just a ghastly creation in my eyes. Just a preposterously large revolver for that cartridge.

Well said, good thing I like ghastly and preposterous!

Granted, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

To me, Ruger DA revolvers look frumpy while S&W revolvers look elegant.

But, you can't fault Rugers for their dependability which is why I have a few Rugers including my lone Redhawk.

What I dearly miss about the S&Ws compared to the Redhawk is the trigger. The S&W is so nice and smooth. The Redhawk is not bad just different and I don't prefer it if given a choice.

That said I shoot my Redhawk significantly more and I like the fact it can handle some hotter stuff. I like the Swift 280gr A-Frames loaded a little warmer than factory.

Blued 7 1/2” Hunter. .44 Magnum

I have one Redhawk. Second year .44 Mag.

If they can put seven rounds in a Single Six cylinder I bet they could pack 10 rounds in a RedHawk cylinder. That would be a BLAST!
