Single shot 20 gauge at my uncles in Pennsylvania. Also the first time I hunted and ate duck. Found out I do not like duck then too, so it was the last time I went duck hunting.

My dad's Stevens Springfield 22 single shot when I was about 7. Those guns cost $1.50 when new, or you could sell seeds or salve to earn one. My grandpa bought this one used in 1939 for my dad's 12th birthday. I still have it.

Shot my first shotgun at age 11, a J.C. Higgins 12 ga pump. I was hooked. I'm still better with a shotgun than either a rifle or handgun.

The first gun I fired was also the first gun I owned. For my 7th birthday in 1961 my dad gave me a Remington 514 single shot.

Unfortunately, it was stolen in 1973.

My dads Winchester 60 around 10yrs old on the farm he was born and raised on.

We did a lot with that gun but empty oil cans, ground hogs and feral cats were the most memorable.

I'd like to say it was a .375 Holland & Holland Magnum. The reality is it was a Marlin Golden 39A, circa 1979, fired Christmas Day 1982 or 1983.

I remember I wanted a toy gun when 5 or 6 And my parents said no toy guns as someday I'd get the real thing. Not sure why they waited until I was 12 or so. Next 2 were a .32 Special and a 16 gauge.

I don’t remember how old I was. My dad had to squat down behind me and hold me and the rifle up, so maybe 2 or 3 years old. But the rifle was an M1 Carbine. I’ve had a love of milsurps ever since. Specifically M1s, Carbines and Garlands.

12 gauge shotgun, because my friends in high school were jerks, haha.

Really, they just took me out to bust some clays and it was what was available. I didn't get into shooting again until I was 25, and started out with a 12 gauge and went from there.

The first firearm I ever shot was when I was a kid in the mid 1960s. My father enrolled me in a PAL (Police Athletic League) course in riflery. Every Wednesday evening I got to go to the local police station where they had a range in their basement. A variety of .22 bolt action rifles were used, some magazine fed, some single-shot. Even if we got a magazine fed one, we never used that device; the instructor walked up the line and gave each kid one .22 long rifle round. We loaded, aimed and fired on command. Regimented .... yea, but it was SAFE and fun!
The first weapon I obtained and fired as an adult was a Winchester 1894AE in .30-30.

Steven's 59A 410 shotgun. Had to be about 1966 in Georgia. I still have it in my safe. Back then when the starlings would migrate through they would darken the sky and we would just shoot into the air. That shotgun killed a lot of starlings.

When I was around 7 or so my oldest brother was home on leave from Vietnam and took my to one of our cousins house and let me shoot a 22 rifle. I have no idea what it was oranything about what type of 22 it was.

My first shotgun was an old beat up shoulder busting 12 gauge singleshot shotgun. We were visti g my older brother inlaws relitives and they brought that out for use younger kids to shoot.
I remember the ammo for it being reloadedn the crimp wasn't sealed and if you held them shells with the metal rim up the pellets would leak out .

When I was eight, maybe nine my oldest brother was back from Vietnam (he did three tours over there, over twenth years in the Army) he took me and my next older brother out squirrel hunting at our uncles farm right on the Pennsylvania border. I shot my first squirrel with my next older brothers 20 gauge Ithaca model 66, lever break open single-shot.

Ruger Single Six. Although I had been shooting my BB gun since I was 6, my dad took me down to the river with his Ruger at around 8.

It was a Winchester pump .22, I don't know which model. I was 9 or 10, I went with dad and my uncle and my cousin to the caliche pits between Midland and Lamesa.

Winchester 69a with a Lyman peep sight. I was 11. My dad cut down the stock and I got a new stock as I got bigger. Still have it and both stocks.

The only gun on the chicken farm was Dad's single shot 22 that he used to shoot rats in the chicken houses at night. I think it was a Stevens..?
Anyway, that was the first one that I ever shot. Probably 50-55+ years ago?

.22 RF Mossberg 352, around 1965. I have been scouring the gun shows for many decades without success, for a specimen of my own, rather nostalgically. I did find a rather lovely 151M that satiates my desire for now, but that's not saying I won't snatch up that perfect 352, if it presents itself to me.
