How loud is suppressed subsonic 300 blackout?

They're taking about a year at this point, in part due to the recent "shut down".

Yeah, I haven’t checked NFA tracker lately, but the shop told me to expect around a year. I’ve never gotten a Form 4 back in less than 11 months that I can remember.

I sure hope you are correct about the NFA wait time. I sent off Form 4s on a pair of Thunderbeast cans back in March.

Lol, me too, and it's just a guess, but the FY19 budget for the ATF, signed at the end of February included a $13.2M and 25 body bump for the stated purpose of getting wait times down to ~90 days. Figure a few weeks for the money to drop, 3-4 months to get the organic positions hired and operating (takes forever in the .gov) and a few months to burn down some of the shutdown backlog along with the SiCo BoGo wave from last July and we should be seeing an inflection in wait times right about now. I don't want to read to much into average times, but I watch user reports on a few sites and NFA tracker, and I think I am seeing an in inflection in wait times, especially for individuals. There are a lot of Septembers and some Octobers coming in, I really think we are moving away from year waits for folks who get clean approvals from the FBI. If you get a hold during the FBI background check, then all bets are off.

Either way, if you buy a can today you'll get your approval sooner than if you wait until next month.

My ten inch Blackout, UNsupressed, with Remington 220gr Subsonic ammunition, sounded exactly the same, to my muffed ears, as the .22LR rifle I had shot five seconds earlier.

The crack from my 22/45 Lite pistol seemed ever so slightly sharper, but not more loud.

YES! Oh, sorry...muffs.
Yes. They are more quiet than supersonic ammunition.
I perceive them to be more quiet than rimfire, too.
(But I thought shotguns were more quiet than a Fourth Five Auto. I was incorrect.)

@Gtscotty is right. I need to get a can!

245 mbc, 5gr 231, 18" RAR, unsuppressed.....sounds like a .22 rifle without the CRACK. It's like shooting rainbows tho, drops a foot or so at 100yds from a 50yd zero.
I'd guess from a properly sized can that load would probably sound like a supressor .22 auto.

Some are quieter than others and it really depends on where you are and what you’re shooting at. The noise of a couple hundred grain projo hitting a target can be loud enough to attract attention. I wouldn’t recommend firing one inside city limits at night if that’s what you’re thinking about. It will sound like you’re beating a hammer on something.
However in the day time and open field it’s going to sound about like a pellet gun. If there’s wind it’s unlikely anyone more than a few yards away would hear it.

If you want quiet direct gas impingement isn't really the way to go.
You might be able to get it about a quiet as a framing nailer driving 3.5 inch nails with 110 psi of air.
If you want movie quiet semi auto you are limited to 22lr fired from a rifle like a ruger 10/22 ssr or 10/22 with a gemtech mist barrel.
If you want a larger bore diameter your best bet is straight wall pistol rounds fired out of a long gun.

The .300 Blkout had a lot of history in it's design as a suppressed cartridge, it also really excels as a short barrel cartridge. It is louder than a sub sonic suppressed .22LR . In an AR the gas rease thru the action and the mechanical action noise are a considerable part of the noise.

If I add a suppressor it would be to a Ruger American bolt action.
