It's an AR-10 style semiauto rifle. I own one, and it's a very nice rifle. I'm not sure I'd call it a battle rifle but it certainly could be used in a battle.
I have a D. P. M. S. LR-308 too and the Saint Victor is lighter weight, and with better forend and stock than the LR-308.

I would rather have a AR-15 in 556. Lighter ammo. Lighter gun. Effective enough. Not gonna be making 300 or 400 yard shots with it.

I was always under the impression that to be concidered a "Battle Rifle" it had to be issued by a military ... So while maybe the Saint Victor hasn't been issued by any military, the original AR-10 has been.

So, it's kinda a definate, sorta

I just watched the linked video in the OP and my first observation is that Steve Horsman should be working for Colt.....:rofl::rofl:

Also, there is a lot of opinion thrown around in there about the .308/7.62 being superior .223/5.56 and the AR10 type rifle being better to have when things go bad and how its a better choice if you are not a combat troop...…I don't know if they are Steve's opinions or SA's. Either way, it is an interesting take on the rifle and cartridge.

Other than that drivel, it does appear to be a well designed rifle. It weighs a full pound less than my CMMG which is my primary complaint of my rifle. It comes with a light profile barrel, improved trigger, anti upper and lower slop system (probably a set screw) and a pinned gas block. IMO, those are pretty nice features in a factory AR10 style rifle.

20" Bbl... Solid stock and handguard... better aperture sights...

It all really breaks down to which cartridge you like better. The 5.56mm. is fine for appropriate uses. .308 is the bigger badder brother the M1A uses. The AR-10 uses that in a version of the American Leggo Rifle which is easier to accessorize than the classic M1A.

There was no Leggo rifle until after the Domestic AWB expired in 94, they were "Mouse guns" (as in Mickey Mouse) ... and there wouldn't have been any Mouse guns had it not been for the AR-10.

I sill shudder to think what would have happened if a permanent version of the domestic AWB had made it to Bush 43's desk; because he said that if it made it to his desk, he'd sign it. It seems we're just one generation away from total gun confiscation ... Back in the 60's & 70's even Democrats were avid hunters and shooters ... Then wimmins rights kicked in and they started femminizing everything and a rifle had to have a 3.5 pound trigger to be "shootable"

lingering question: Springfield uses some foreign parts on the M1A ( my understanding) ... do they use foreign parts on their Saint line?

I've been down the .308 AR road and have a hard time getting excited about trying it again. The platform is heavy and altogether clunkier than the AR-15. The Saint is lighter than some other .308 AR options, but it's still quite a bit heavier than what you could get in an AR-15 for similar money.

I saw the BRN-10® RETRO RIFLE 308/7.62 20IN BARREL when it was first being introduced (you had to pre-order) and at that time the price was $1,699.99 (for the model I wanted), now I see they're almost $600 less.
A member on another form ordered one and when it finally arrived he was quite disappointed in the quality of the build and said the plastic felt cheap.

On the one hand, it was an early one and they may have gotten better.
On the other, the drastic price reduction may reflect that they are quitting and just selling off the inventory.

As much as I'd like to have an early example one with the charge handle IN the hand guard, I've got better things to do with $1,000+shipping and transfer for a questionable AR10 when you can buy/build one of better quality for the same price.

This - just may be my first/last/only .308.
(Unless I re-Bbl. an M1 down the road)

PSA has these on sale for $1,130

So, tell me what you don't like about it.

i stay with my battle tested sagia
almost as liight as the ar 10 with plastic furniture and will not jam in the mud if you drop it, u still can get them for 800$ like mine tricked out

What I don’t like? The price and SA’s idea on an adjustable gas block. Rather than a simple adjusting screw their’s comes with different inserts to lose.

The Saint victor 308 has an adjustable gas system?
All I could fine that it's a mid length pinned gas block

Still lookin for my first AR type 308, so far the Saint for its features and weight looks good so far. But Dpms oracle a bit heavier, but seen a video of this shooting out to 500y with very impressive groups

Correction on group size out to 300y, not 500y
