An H-Bar -A2 AR - where do I find a really good one?

coffee, coke....sugar....any...."stimulant" is not good.....you want to slow down not speed up.

I don't think my lawn chair is helping my aim / repeatability either...

Do yourself a huge favor: get a sheet of plywood, cut two triangles out and screw them together. Buy a 2x4, make two legs, and attach them with folding hinges, then c-clamp them onto your deck rail as a removable corner table. As for that seat...I applaud you for shooting even that well from it, I’d probably have hit the house. 2x12s work well. Seat attached to two legs with a semi-circle cut out at the bottom (to give each leg “2” legs), and two stringers under the seat. 1 twelve footer ought to do it and give visitors a place to rest their legs while enjoying the view.

Still need a sling. 20 inch PSA A3 Kit.
This is the one I went with.

Turner has one that’s nice as well.

25yds sand bagged sitting off back porch - 15rds of Federal American Eagle XM855 62gr FMJ Green Tip. Shooting 3rd groups:

Coffee doesn't help.
You’ll be able to tighten that up. 855 isn’t exactly known for winning any marksman awards.

Try Hornady Steel Match for a low cost alternative. They have 55 gr. I think and 75 gr. I shoot the 75 gr. I’m getting the occasional cloverleaf if I do my part at 100 yards, but a silver dollar sized group to a styrofoam coffee cup circumference with the odd flyer (my fault) is more usual while sandbagged.

You got me thinking.
I'll start looking for an old $5 to $10 wooden chair at garage sale. Maybe take the back off and paint it to match the deck.

20" Rock River heavy barrel with traditional sights and guards. Geissele Super 42 Braided Buffer Spring in A2 stock. Quiet in the ear. Soft recoil w/o feed issues. Runs real nice. Looks the part :)

Have you considered a Flat top A4 with the A2 carry handle/sights? Gives you the best of both worlds, an A2 sight system with the ability to convert easily to optics.
If you have a flat top upper receiver, why bother with a clamp-on carry handle? Put an MA Tech BUIS on it (what the army uses) and then you can install / remove the scope without disturbing the BUIS.

Last time I looked the only affordable way to get an A2 upper was to buy a stripped upper and build it, and even so buying the stripped upper wasn’t nearly as affordable as a flat top. I did it for an AR pistol and I liked it a lot but I e fed up trading that pistol for a Taurus m327 and a mountain of .327 ammo. One of those buy the ammo get the gun free kind of deals.

When assembling an A2 upper, the tricky part is installing the rear sight tensioning spring. There's a special tool that is made for this, and it's well worth investing in. (Of course you can do it without the tool, but you'll be doing a lot of cursing.)

Never mind, should have looked at the dates before responding.

And not some 16" race-barbie - talkin' a chrome lined mil-spec H-Bar Colt-A2 (or equivalent), w/ the proper handguards and sights.

An Old Guy patrol rifle.

What I know about the AR market you could put in a thimble... and still get your finger in.

Just figgered that, what w/ the current state of affairs, it might be a dandy time to acquire one.

TIA.

I built one from a Delton kit. It turned out very nice. Much better than the PSA kit I built. I got it at Mid-way. Great customer service too.
