Question: what guns do you WISH they made?

It could be any platform and any caliber, but within the realm of reality (no plasma rifles in the 40 watt range)...

I'll go first...

1. I really wish they made an inexpensive S&W Schofield clone in .22lr/.22mag. It could be scaled down even. Basically think Heritage Rough Rider but a Schofield. It'd have a working ejector like the real deal when you pivoted it open. It'd be like a sub $200 gun. I know there is that H&R 999 sportsman handgun with the triangle barrel, which is really awesome, but I'd love an actual single action Schofield! Heck, it'd be awesome if they made a full size version in .357 mag...

2. While we're on the subject of break open revolvers (I'm obsessed with top break revolvers). It'd be awesome if someone made like a Webley Mk VI clone in .357 mag. Or it'd be REALLY cool if Ruger made a top break stainless GP100 with a 4" barrel, that'd be the ultimate revolver! I know break top revolvers aren't as strong as bill framed guns are, but I've got think with today's metallurgy and materials, I'm sure they could make a break top revolver in magnum calibers. They already make a schofield replica chambered 45 colt.

3. Speaking of Ruger revolvers, they should make a 6 round version of the SP101

4. Also, Ruger should make a lever action rifle. Maybe chambered in .357mag, (9mm would be cool too, if you could find flat point ammo) 44mag, 45 Colt, 30-30, and 45-70 gov't. It'd be stainless with an 18" barrel, side loading gate, slightly enlarged lever.

5. I would love it, and it would be so cool, if Kriss/Vector would make a rifle chambered in 308 that takes AR-10 mags. Put that recoil reducing/camming bolt system to good use. Start with 308, maybe to go a 6.5 Creed in the future. It'd be cool if they made one in 556/223 that took AR mags too.

6. More handgun options in 5.7, perhaps a Glock, M&P, and 1911 versions. Maybe some other rifles chambered in it.

7. More 10mm handguns and pistol caliber carbines. I know that hi point and Kriss each have a carbine in 10mm, I'm sure there are others too. But it be cool if they came out with a lever gun in 10mm. Ruger should come out with a 10mm semi auto other than a 1911.

9. These aren't guns, but a couple of wildcat cartridges I've thought of: a 10mm necked down 9mm, basically a 357 Sig with longer brass and thus more case capacity. What about 45acp necked down to 9 or 40? A revolver/lever action caliber to bridge the gap between 357 and 44-40 perhaps?

10. I don't know if they already make these, but either a 1911 with a polymer "lower", or a striker fired 1911. And maybe with that new "half stack" idea of Sigs to bring the capacity to 10-13. That would be awesome!

Let me know what you think of my list, some of it may actually already exist. And before anyone asks, "why would they bother making X?", because this is America, and we can!

I'm really curious to hear what's on your guys' lists!!! Let's hear your ideas!

1) New Savage handguns based on the M1907 action, I wrote them a letter telling them I have a $1000 check ready for a modern one of these-

2) New Savage lever actions based on the M99 action chambered for pistol calibers and .22lr
3) A steel-framed Remington R51 and a .45 version like the M53

Some good ideas there, I especially agree on some new top-breaks. A polymer and aluminum .22 S&W top-break for under $200 would be a potent Ruger Wrangler fighter.

FYI, Ruger does make a 6 shot SP in .327, they used to make a 6 shot .22 SP too. Ive got one, its sweet.

They also had a lever gun, the Model 96-

Small frame sporting type semi auto, 2.3" magazine, and enough meat to run stuff based on the X39 upto 60kpsi comfortably
Medium (308 but shortened to 2.3") slide and/or semi to run .450bm/.458socom class rounds at 50k.

*I can't help with a pot metal "Schofield" but you could shop for a H&R Single Action Sportsman. Wish I had bought that Ultra Sportsman.

2. It'd be awesome if someone made like a Webley Mk VI clone in .357 mag.

*Have I got a deal for you.

3. Speaking of Ruger revolvers, they should make a 6 round version of the SP101

*They do, 22 and .32. If you want a .38 they call it a GP 100 or the original Security Six.

4. Also, Ruger should make a lever action rifle.

*They did, just not cowboy. Probably why they didn't sell. But they were largely a fallback in case of a total auto ban.

5. I would love it, and it would be so cool, if Kriss/Vector would make a rifle chambered in 308 that takes AR-10 mags. Put that recoil reducing/camming bolt system to good use.

*I doubt their delayed blowback would hold rifle calibers.

6. More handgun options in 5.7, perhaps a Glock, M&P, and 1911 versions. Maybe some other rifles chambered in it.

*The round is very long, it would take whole new receivers for a niche piece.

*Where have you been? See 9x25 Dillon, .38-45 Clerke, .360 Casull, .400 Cor Bon.
Do you want something traditional like .38-40 or modern like .41 Magnum?

10. I don't know if they already make these, but either a 1911 with a polymer "lower", or a striker fired 1911. And maybe with that new "half stack" idea of Sigs to bring the capacity to 10-13. That would be awesome!

*Rock River makes a plastic "1911." Caspian and Tanfoglio make 10 round .45s that probably qualify as "half stack". But if it has a striker, it isn't anywhere close to a 1911.

Let me know what you think of my list, some of it may actually already exist. And before anyone asks, "why would they bother making X?", because this is America, and we can!

*Some of your wants are out there, or similar. The rest seem too low demand for a manufacturer to take a chance.

A 3" heavy barrel, blued, no lock S&W Model 13, chambered for a modernized version of the .41 Long Colt.

Interesting point.
One gunzine writer got USFA to build him a SAA chambered .41 LC with .386" cylinder throat and barrel for inside lubricated bullets that didn't have to bump up.

Heck, with coated and plated bullets, would a .41 heeled bullet be bad?

Dare I say it, but a 41 mag or 44 mag hipoint carbine. I like hipoints cheap and reliable. With those you could do some serious hunting. Best of all it's cheap.

I want a 1894 lever action saddle ring carbine in 5.56. I know Henry makes the Long Ranger, just not what I want in a lever.

CZ97 in 10mm
Bolt action .444 Marlin
Bolt action .44 Mag that was priced more like the standard Savage bolt actions
The old New England or H&R single rifles back again.

My list of hopes and dreams:

1. A nice sxs hammer gun, preferably in 10 gauge, without the tang safety and screw in chokes.
2. A 30-30 with a barrel more than 20", like the old 1894 rifles. And no d@mn safety!
3. Bring back the Savage 99! And the Favorite/crackshot too while you're at it!
4. A Winchester 1887 clone with a 30" barrel under $1250.
5. An affordable drilling chambered in something like 12/12 over 30-30, or even 16/16 over .357 magnum or 32-20. And around $1500 or less.
6. Give us a good pump .22 that isn't a Henry or a Remington. Like an 1890 Winchester that we can all afford.
7. How about someone reproducing M1's? Or Hell how about an M1 under a grand?
8. A nice Walker or Dragoon Colt conversion, in 45 lc, done at the factory.
9. Build me a Model 70 like they were before 1964, in a half decent array of calibers.
10. Finally, one decent 22lr bolt gun from either Winchester or Remington that isn't a pos. It doesn't seem so hard to make, yet neither company makes one currently. Walnut and blued steel construction preferred.

A guy can wish, can't he?

Mac

What I want is a cartridge--something in 7mm about 40-45mm long. Like 7x40 with a 120-125 projo.
Then, let the makers compete on the best way to make it go bang (flapper delay worked pretty well with 8x33).

There were several such short 7mms in assault rifle development.
I assume the Germans went 8mm and the Soviets 7.62 so they could use at least existing barrel tooling.
