I Have Upset a Friend

I used to shoot with a few of my friends from my one of my old jobs. We all had slightly different tastes in firearms. There was a little razzing but nothing serious...except for one of the guys. He really was a pain regarding his insistence that everyone should have a gun that fires S&W .40.

My response was “Buy me one or shut the **** up”

It actually soaked in the second time I told him.

My best friend loves anything old and metal, while I prefer less weight, more accuracy and capacity. Have him pick a 9mm and it will be a Browning Hi-power. 45acp-1911, rifle- AK, SKS or Mosin.

Me-9mm-M&P. 45acp-1911, Rifle. Bolt or AR.

I razz him when we deer hunt and he uses a flint lock that couldn't hit a milk jug at 50yards, but I kill deer at 200yards. He gets mad and get over it. This is absolutely silly if your friendship is tainted over a stupid gun.

Better be careful. Your friend is likely to start teasing you for not being able to get within 200 yards of a deer.

Kidding or not, my answer is...i like guns. All of them. Wheelguns, semi autos, steel, polymer, single stacks, higher capacity, 9mm, .40, .38, .45, .357, .22 mag, cap and ball, etc.

You do you.

I'm not worried. That flint lock cant hit a 12'' shoot n c at 50yards, which has resulted in several wounded deer. I bow hunt a lot and even shot a nice 8pt off the ground at 30yards with my crossbow. The only thing I have against older equipment is the sometimes they lack of ethical kills. I'm not okay with shooting a deer with a homemade long bow and having the dowel rod arrow sticking 3/4 the way out of its side or using a 6ft rifle and hitting the deer in the rear end at 50yards and having it run off a die 12hrs later.

That's ok & expected if you dig revolvers like I do.
If he gets real upset of this difference, ask him if he wants you & him to dress like TWINS & drive the same CARS
or share the same toothbrush.
That's what I tell my best friend when we get into it over his love of Flintlocks & my love of WW1 &WW11 weapons.
It MAKES HIM LAUGH, which is a good thing, he is a bodybuilder & prison guard which could tie me in a knot if he
decided we would settle it with who could whip who's butt.

I was just remembering when I showed up at one of our shooting weekends with my “Tacticool” friends with all my Cowboy guns when I first joined SASS and got into Cowboy Action Shooting. The looks on their faces was hilarious.

After shooting my new toys the razzing stopped. They actually thought my Cowboy gun’s were pretty cool. They had no interest in buying any and wouldn’t be caught dead at a CAS match but they appreciated the guns for what they were.

My love for all things wheel gun-nish has finally upset a good friend of mine. Ex Navy line coach, ship defense, boarding/search siezure, all this good stuff in the Navy; and he swears by a polymer high capacity 9mm. I finally broke it to him today. "I understand their 'advantages'... I just don't want one." I like 1911's and revolvers; and I can drive tacks with both of em. Ive absolutely sucked with anything "Glock" or anything that felt like a 2x4.

Anyways, how can I make amends with my buddy ? I like the dude as a friend and training coach, he and I just don't see eye to eye on some things ... like revolvers
Get a glock21r.
It says "I compromised and found value in a glock" whilst still staying true to your own desire.
We just solved a friendship dilemma by you adding another gun to your arsenal, thank you High Road!
Eta that all kidding aside, you could take him out shooting with a few of your pieces and if he's not open to discussion and is that upset, then keep guns out of the conversation or find a different friend.

Sounds like the typical whiny, spoiled Glock fanboy. Those types aren’t friend material. Life’s too short to waste on those types. Besides, can you really trust someone that uses plastic sights shaped like a square? Find friends with the good sense to own 1911’s.

Kicked the nest and waiting for the fanboys. Butthurt Glockies are entertaining.:neener:
