I had them sign for delivery too.

Well, being that the only requirement is to ship to a licensee in the buyers state all that is needed is shipping address from that FFL. He can send the first three/last five numbers for verifying on EzCheck. The ONLY REQUIREMENT is to ship to a licensee.

Yes there is EZ check but a copy of the FFL for their own records is handy in case the ATF ever asks them what they did with the gun they have a copy.

Oh good grief....once AGAIN...……..having a copy of some dealers FFL is proof only that you have a copy some dealers FFL.
-It isn't proof that you mailed or shipped the firearm.
-It isn't proof that you mailed or shipped the firearm to the address on the FFL
-It isn't required for ME, A LICENSEE, to keep a copy.....why do you think that is?
-ATF isn't going to ask to see the FFL copy of the dealer you shipped to.....they already know whether that dealer has a valid FFL.
-Proof of a package being shipped to a particular address is available from USPS/UPS/FedEx.

Not giving a copy of the FFL out is annoying in my opinion, if someone is going to photoshop an address they can just grab any old FFL online, and they can photoshop the name too, they aren't going to go through the hassle of setting up a gunbroker account, validate their identiy, setup a bank account/CC on file, and acquire a firearm so they can sell it just so they can get a copy of a random FFL.

No, what's annoying is someone demanding a copy of something that ATF has repeatedly stated IS NOT REQUIRED for nonlicensees.
(and I gladly send out my FFL to any nonlicensee, I doesn't rattle my chains when they ask)

I would guesstimate that few nonlicensees take my FFL, verify its validity on EzCheck, then ship the firearm.
What do you think happens if they received a fake FFL?
And they shipped to an address on that faked FFL?

A copy of the FFL is for doing business, if they're doing business with a private seller just give it to them, otherwise they can say they don't accept transfers from private sellers and let their competition get the money.

The increasing hassle and headache of dealing with nonlicensed sellers is why many dealers choose to not accept transfers from them.

Thank God there's still people out there that are willing to go through all the hassle and headache of emailing a PDF.

You misunderstand, terribly. The hassle and headache has nothing to do with an email. Sending an email is the same whether its sent to another dealer or to a nonlicensee. The hassle and headache comes after the email is sent.
My days accepting shipments from nonlicensees are numbered. Over the last year I've seen an huge increase in stupidity:
-firearms shipped to the wrong address.
-firearms shipped with no information on buyer or seller.
-firearms shipped without signature on delivery and left at my door. (or at a neighbors door because the idiot got the address wrong)
-expensive firearms shipped with insufficient packing materials or none at all.
-firearms shipped with undisclosed damage/wear/missing parts.
-nonlicensees shipping ammunition with the firearm.
-nonlicensees shipping handguns via USPS.

It used to not be that way.

As Tom mentioned...it’s a PITA to get a gun from an individual with no contact information as to whom it’s for or whom it’s from…although the transferee normally will “get the ball rolling” if you know what I mean. Once they know I cannot transfer the gun until I have that information.
