Bersa Firestorm vs S&W Shield

Between the two, definitely Shield. However, my Shield spends most of the time in the safe. I carry the Sig P365. You should look into that if you can get them in your state.

That is kinda funny on the surface but to me, it shows good character by bersaguy.

And it seems we are comparing a 380 to a 9mm. I own a Bersa Thunder 22.cal, and am not going to post what I do not know at all about a different model gun. And again, a whole lot of post from people that never owned the gun going on. Spats posted before that he would go with a Shield when comparing it to the Ruger LC9S. Although he was honest enough to say it did not own a Ruger. I will give him credit for that. However as I said, I have not owned the Bersa and it would be totally disingenuous to give a opinion on a gun you know nothing about. By the way, as I mentioned, I owned a Shield and bought the LC9s. And would do so again. And let me emphasize that both are excellent firearms.

A guy comes in from a different planet. Goes up to the Pepsi, Coke taste test. Picks Pepsi without trying the Coke and gets on the internet and tell's everyone that Pepsi is the best. Sorry if I disagree with so many posters.

Shield 9mm, Bersa .380, I'll choose the 9mm every time. For a back up gun the Bersa would be OK but not for a primary arm.

My Shield 2.0 is 100% reliable but I don’t shoot it very well. It’s a shame as it feels great in the hand, but after 800 rounds I’m still no better with it. I shoot the P365 much better. My Dad has a 380 Bersa and he shoots it better than any of his other semi autos.

Point being, you’ll need to find out which fits you better to truly decide. Good luck!

I'm kind of at a loss.... I don't understand what point you're trying to make to me.

. . . . And again, a whole lot of post from people that never owned the gun going on. Spats posted before that he would go with a Shield when comparing it to the Ruger LC9S. Just because one doesn't "own" a particular gun doesn't mean that he "knows nothing" about it. The reality is that many of us (myself included) will never be able to afford every gun that sparks interest. There are probably a half dozen firearms that I'll likely never own just because they felt so awful in my hand at the gun show. That doesn't mean my opinion of them is disingenuous. Limited in value, maybe, but not disingenuous. I've never owned a Bersa, either.

I had a Shield, and liked it a lot, very dependable, thin and easy to conceal wearing minimal clothing. I bought a P-365, liked it better, and gave the Shield to my long time friend who loves it.

If I wanted to compare a large 380 or similar size, I would do just that compare. These guns are as different as night and day. Certainly not a apples to apples. Of course with your comparison most are going to go with the 9mm given the size and also you have people posting that have not shot or owned. A blind observation from a internet poster is NOT the way to purchase a gun that will be your every day carry. I would ask folks what other 380's they like that actually compares the two. The Shield EZ, the LC380 etc. DAO, Da/Sa etc. If you want to compare 9mm's then try and compare similar models. And again from people that actually own one, or have done some shooting. And then remember that is just opinion. You would really need to take everything you hear on the Internet with a grain of salt.
The OP does not give a lot of reasons for his quest for a CCW. Seems to just be size that is his concern. And if that is the case, a whole of questions to be answered. I think he really needs to go rent some firearms. 380 will not be the same as 9mm.
If he handles the Bersa 380 and likes the mild recoil likes the feel of the gun in his hand then a good choice. If he finds he can handle 9mm likes the Shield, then that may be a better choice.I would never give advice to a NEW shooter with such limited knowledge of what he needs. And it seems the internet is famous for this. I would, give the advice to sign up for a class with a qualified instructor for professional instruction and honest advice. More than likely you will get to shoot similar firearms.
You may find out you hate both. .

That's you.

I'd think that if the person that started this thread wanted to, he would have.

And it seems the internet is famous for this.

The Internet is also famous for replies that, instead of answering the question, post replies that basically say that the person asking the question isn't knowledgeable enough to ask the right question.

Not sure if the Op really understands what the difference is. Lol, how do you know what he thinks? Maybe explainingg why you think one is better than the other would help the OP. Certainly did not see much help in your post.

Never claimed I did.

Possibly.... I think others did ok, though. For me, I think the Shield is a better softer shooting gun than the Bersa and the PPK/s I've shot but not owned either.

Does that meet your standards?

Certainly did not see much help in your post.

Got a point to make or just want to critize the question and answers?
