Did you shoot this Labor Day weekend? 9/2/2019? If so, what’d you shoot?

Today I got out and shot 500 rounds on a beautiful, sunny, 75 degree Labor Day weekend Sunday.

100 rounds through my SA XDs-45. Shot well. Hitting a 6” steel spinner at 20 yards wasn’t too hard. Had fun.

Next up I put 300 rounds through my CZ Shadow 2. That gun is tons of fun and transitions between targets so quickly. I was jerking the trigger here and there but when I focused on a smooth trigger squeeze I was hitting very consistently.

Finally I put 100 rounds of 45 acp through my brand new Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail Commander. Gun shot great but I was getting tired by then and I started slipping. Going to shoot that gun first next time so I’m less fatigued.

I also met two retired coworker/friends out in the woods for today’s session. Had a lot of fun. Caught some sun.

What about you?

Sounds like some fun, Those Wesson bobs are very sweet! I shot yesterday indoors. I got to try out the trigger work I finished thursday night on a Glock 34. I usually get my trigger work done at a smiths but the glocks are so simple. It turned out great. Totally transformed the gun. I also shot my loaded 1911 springfield in 9mm.

What I'm looking forward to is shooting outdoors but the 100 degree heat keeps me hiding inside more than I like. Glad some of you guys are getting good weather!

I tried, but after 7 miles or so of stomping all over a bunch of primo blue grouse habitat I did not see a single one. I think the extreme heat we have been suffering has them all crowded around seeps and springs rather than feeding where I usually see them.

I followed my basic weekend practice shoot/socialization. Two rounds at the trap club, ten shots at the 12 in diameter gong with my .303 Lee Enfield, 20 rounds with my Glock 29, 14 .38 Spl shots and seven .357 Magnum rounds in my Taurus 627. I wanted to shoot more but I had an appointment with a buddy and his 280Z.

Yesterday I dug out my septic. Yahoo.
A sick porcupine lumbered off the rails to trails and meandered through my yard.
He was covered in flies. I had to head back to the grey house for my boy's Rascal, as a Fourty Five Auto was a bit much with the neighbors out and about.
I ended the poor guy. Looked like a dog attack. Buried him and the rest of the drain line. Waiting for the stone yard to open Tuesday.

But...

It's six thirty. I'm dressed and there's a few hundred round of various lead pushers in the steel can.

It's make a mess day.

Twenty or so milk jugs and juice bottles are all ready in the truck bed.
The 450 Bushmaster is prancing back and forth at the safe door, I can hear her.
The rimfires are whining and climbing all over each other.
The Desert Eagle is sitting patiently, almost stoic, as she waits to be oiled for the day.

Like a big ungainly teenager, my VR-Eighty knocks over another AR, I pick it up and it glances the box of shot shells. Now they are on the floor.
I stoop to pick them up and hear it sliding down the wall, hitting the steel ammo can on the way...
I need to make room for the Wheelie Bird, and some pigeons. Yup, I bought it for ducks...:D

I will have coffee today. The Wesson and PT- Ninety Two will stay home. They make me want to only shoot one hole groups. Not happening today. Like it ever does...o_O

Today is for fun before all my hair falls out. The targets will be close and reactive...thats right! I have some Tannerite left! Oooh! The targets will be VERY reactive!:)
Awsome!

Saturday I shot my uncle's Glock Twenty Seven.
It shot great, unbelievably accurate for my first use.
I'll never be a fanboy, but man those ARE good pistols. Gaston is a complete dirt bag, but I'm getting a Glock...;)
Fired my P-Thirty Two a few times and marveled at the sparks and flame that it burps out.:D

But, yeah, my labor is done!
Time for some shootin'!
Suns out, Guns out!

Enjoy the last day of the weekend y'all! :)

Looked like a dog attack.

I'll bet some owner had to pull porcupine quills from their idiot dog. That was a kind act, putting it out of it's misery.

I hate the way Glocks look, I hate the way they feel in my hands, but I love the way I can shoot them!

Temp was 104 again Saturday so some indoor range time. Surprisingly few folk there. Shot one of my Colt 1903s and did some close up weak hand work with the Tomcat. In all a nice break from the unrelenting heat but then I got back in the car and literally burned my hand on the steering wheel.

Yesterday, my wife had her first exposure to trap shooting at our local gun club (manual thrower). She had never shot a 12 ga. and was surprised at the recoil; however, she said that she liked the game and wants to do more. Looks like the purchase of a 20 ga. will be in order.

I went to the club with my Security Six and a 22/45. Practiced draw and engage and policing 9mm brass left by others. After an hour a husband and wife showed up to shoot. I painted the steel and left.

Carbine match with a Ruger new 9 mm carbine with a Vortex optic. G17 for handgun transitions. Really like the Ruger. Three us in our squad have them. Got the Ruger as it isn’t EBR looking, just in case. But it is a fun gun.

I went to old range Friday and shot lousy with recently bought M&P 9 FS and ok with Shield 9mm. The fancy ranges open for the holiday will be packed and I'm not going to pay $18 for and hour

Problem is, most 20 gauge guns are lighter in proportion to the shell. Recoil may not be much less.
A gas operated auto in whichever gauge will be the softest to shoot.

shot for a few hours yesterday. Resighted my Ridgeline to factory ammo, as I don't have time to shoot dopes on my handloads before hunting next week. Other than that it was mostly plinking with the .22s and my buddy's .44 sbh hunter.
