I'm getting rid of a few different calibers and have a fair supply of ammo built up over time that I won't need. So,...what is the best way for me to sell this ammo and not loose a bunch of money?

Armslist, Craigslist, eBay (maybe), Newspaper, Facebook (if you’re creative), PM someone here. What exactly are we talking about?

Provided that you understand that you'll get 50-70% of retail for commercial ammo, you can sell it on Armslist or similar.

Most folks that buy retail ammo aren't interested in your 'used' ammo, the folks that reload aren't interested in your retail pricing. I haven't found much market in between those two.

I have a bunch of:

380acp
9mm
7.62x39
.223

I even thought about potentially getting a table at a gun show. I wouldn't do anything which would require shipping since the shipping is not what either I, nor the buyer, would want to pay when they can get ammo in their area without a shipping charge.

I sold all my .223/5.56 to a friend a few years ago at a discounted price. I say keep it local to someone you know if possible.

Those are popular calibers so, depending on your state and it's laws, you should be able to unload it at a decent price.

Post it here in the Trading Post and price it to move. Given the availability of the cartridges you are selling, you won't get top dollar for them. A local sale is definitely the way to go.

Where are you located? Should be easy to sell those, as long as you're not expecting close to new price. Seen that a few times and wasn't sure what the people were thinking.

Unless you are in dire financial shape or need to get rid of it now I suggest waiting a year. The 2020 Elections are only 14 months away and there are States trying to keep President Trump off of the ballot along with calls to have the military involved with the preventing “interference” with the voting.

This and extremist anti-gun position of the Democrat candidate could well create high demand for ammunition. I am avoiding use of the word panic as the threats this time are very real.

BSA1, that may be a good idea. No, not in dire financial shape. And I can wait to see what happens in 2020. And I certainly don't want to give it away.

I’m assuming it is factory/commercial ammo. If so, search out a local IDPA or USPSA shooing group and contact the match director.

I am always getting emails from my local IDPA director with guns/ammo for sale. Especially if you are selling for decent prices, it will go quickly.

I have sold and traded ammo on Armslist. Trades have the best value for me as I am getting something I would buy anyway. Not too long ago I traded some unopened ammo for some unopened AR magazines. Fair trade for both of us I imagine.

Find a local auction house that dies firearm auctions. In my experience ammunition usually sells high is most auctions.

I would call the 3 or 4 most popular and largest ranges near you and find out if they host weekly or monthly shooting competitions (IDPA, Steel Match, etc.,) and get the POCs for the shoots. It’s probably on their websites...

Then, simply contact them and ask if they’d be interested in sending out an email on your behalf to their shooters.

I am not saying to “give it away”, but if you make your prices attractive, you’ll get buyers.

Just last weekend, our IDPA host sent out an email to us about someone selling a bunch (4-5K) of mix and match commercial 9, 223, and .45. I text the seller later that day and it was all sold (to the same guy). He told me could have sold 20K easy. His prices were about 75% of local Academy prices.

Key is get your list together and send it out to a mailing group of shooters...

I'll 2nd the idea of waiting until after the 2020 election. I also like the gun show idea. It will burn up a weekend but I have had fun the few times I have gotten a table and sold stuff.
