Looking to do a road trip from Lexington Ky down 75 to Knoxville TN and then going to Durham NC on 40.

Anyone care to recommend any neat/outstanding gun stores along the way. I prefer older used guns to new.. But hell, if it goes bang I am happy....

Have a great trip.
Sorry, I'm no help. We love the areas you'll be travelling. The folks there are very friendly. Check the pawn shops. I have bought a BP gun or two there.
I've spent weeks on Norris Lake north of Knoxville.
Be safe, best wishes.

J. Floyd's Golf and Guns is just down the road from SMKW and Buds (indoor range) in Sevierville (pronounced severe-ville)

Bill's Outpost in Midland Center, Alcoa

WD Sporting Goods on Alcoa Hwy in Knoxville

H & H Firearms near Jefferson City (exit 417 on I40)

Shoot Point Blank (indoor range) in Farragut

Frontier Firearms in Kingston

G&G Enterprises in Kingston (no experience with this one)

Your avatar looks like WW1 solder holding a Springfield rifle.
Pall Mall, Tennessee is a tiny town where Sergeant Alvin York lived and is buried. His family is still there.
Probably the most famous WW1 soldier.

Not too far from Knoxville.

If you get off I75 at Corbin, KY and take 25E and hwy 33 into Knoxville you might try East End Pawn in Middlesboro, KY and Shylock Pawn in Tazewell, TN. They have a good selection of firearms and are usually willing to deal if you have cash. Same people own both so if you need to do an FFL transfer between states it's a snap.

Have a great trip.

Thanks for the question! It sort of depends on your definition of "good." If you're starting out in Lexington, and that means that you live there you probably already know about Antique & Modern Firearms, Inc. They are only open a few days a week with limited hours, but if you're interested, here is the link to their website http://am-firearms.com.

Fuquay Gun & Gold in Fuquay Varina, NC is an excellent gun shop and worth the time.
It is about 1 hour south of Durham.
Friendly and helpful, too!
No attitudes to deal with.

There’s a gun/hunting/fishing store on US25 near Corbin, KY that is pretty good but I can’t remember the name. There’s also a gun and pawn shop near one of the London, KY exits that has a ton of guns. Don’t remember it either, but Google will find it for you.

I like Elmer Fudd Guns. It's out of the way, but the only gun shop I want to visit is Mid South Guns, Wegram NC.

MANY THANKS all.. but keep them coming... I have not had a bunch of time to hit them.. But have several trips planned..

Many thanks larryh1108, did hit this store.. Was a pretty nice shop... Lot more Modern guns but they did have some surplus and the prices were with in reason.. Lots of bulk ammo. Heck they even had new 8mm Mauser in bulk.. Also there was a a real nice little Stevens crack shot 22 there that looked almost new.. Main complaint of the place was who the heck puts a 1919 belt fed up on the top shelf out of sight :( .

Many thanks for this referral, Found a place called Kentucky Outdoorsman.. At first look at the building, one thinks its a small building.. But it is very very large inside.. A fantastic Bow room, lots of fishing and hunting items. The had a little bit of everything and sometimes they had a lot. Where as their gun room was large. Was mostly modern & new guns.. But they had a large range of firearms. And the staff is was very very friendly. It was a nice place to go..

MANY THANKS..

That’s the place. It’s dangerous to go in there with a full wallet.

All I will say is get OFF the Interstate and drive local roads and highways; and if you want a challenge, drive the Tail of the Dragon

This was a cool place to go to.. Very Luxurious by gun shop standards.. They did have some surplus (to little :( ) but the layout was almost out of a country club.. A lounge area for watching TV, Well displayed guns. Where you may not have wanted anything in the place. It was worth a stop and look.. And I did not really price anything, but the few things I looked at the prices seemed well in the ball park...

Thanks, never would have found this on my own
