Did you shoot this Labor Day weekend? 9/2/2019? If so, what’d you shoot?

Shot the AR10, with the 150gr./ varget FMJ Hornady bullets I had loaded last year, about 200 of them. So much fun ringing a 10inch AR500 steel plate, from the back deck, at 200yards.

Made it to my local sportsmen's club range with a co-worker on Monday. Pleasantly surprised that it wasn't packed full of shooters. Brought out the usual Canik TP9 Elite and Glock 40, but also brought out my newly purchased Taurus Tracker 455 and a Marlin 336. Wasn't really a great day though for me though.. didn't shoot great and the Marlin went from FTF every 10 or do rounds, to every other round. Stripped the Marlin when I got home, lots of old sticky grease in there. I think the firing pin was sticking. Gave it a good cleaning and lube. Hoping to go back out this week to give it another go.

Spent the weekend doing hurricane prep, then went to work at 0530 Labor Day, and didn't get off until 1000 the next day. So, no shooting for me.

Went to the range with my son on Friday, so not quite the weekend but call it close enough since we were both off work. Brought out my brother's Remington stainless stalker 30-06 which has been in storage since 1995. Just replaced the old walker trigger. Shot 5 rounds into about an inch dead center of new steel plate at 100 yards (hard to measure with splatter, but all overlapped in tight group) without any sight adjustments. Absolutely no change of zero after a quarter century.

Sent some rounds downrange with the old mini ranch rifle (small divits in new plate so slightly unhappy about that), and a few magazines from my son's WASR.

Switched over to the pistol range to try a couple new 9mm's my son bought out. I think my Fudd-ness must be getting stronger with age that I just cannot get into the striker-fired triggers. Way too long and mushy compared to my 1911s and SA revolvers. Anyway shot a Canik TP9 and CZ 75SP01. Guess they are fine for what they are. About the same size and weight of a Glock17 and shoot similarly, though the flush slide release is not my favorite.

Had to pack up without stopping at the trap range unfortunately. Still a good day plinking steel.

Had a great day Monday. Used my 22 buckmark with a new laser sight that I designed and shot well all day. Shot the 17 HMR Marlin with the new sight at 100 yards during full sun and performed well. I had other shooters try them as well and all were quite surprised how they performed.

I did go shooting the Labor Day weekend. I am trying to get ready for the Colorado SB Silhouette State Match later this month. I went to both the local gun range that I belong to and I took a trio up to the NRA Whittington Center to do a bit of shooting up there. It was a good weekend.

My daughter asked if I would take her and her boyfriend to the range to teach him how to shoot. She's shot a bunch of matches with me and is very confident and capable but he was kinda nervous, not having shot anything since his .22 rifle merit badge in the boy scouts. We started him on a Ruger .22/45 and then tried a Beretta PX4, which I've found is the mildest of the 9s. She blasted 17 out of 17 plates with it but he preferred the .22. He was pretty shaky, but did well, and caught himself anticipating the noise and recoil so he didn't reinforce it.

We tried a Brig also, which my daughter ran like a pro, but he preferred the .22, which was fine by me.

Hopefully she'll choose more wisely with the next boyfriend. :D

Went twice to the indoor since Dorian was supposed to hit and didn't. Shot a SP 101 twice, a HK P2000sk once and a Glock 23 once. Good way to spend the weekend IMO. Now time to order some more ammo.

Shot my recently purchased Tavor SAR, and loved every bit of it (except for the cleanup after!)

Also shot the Glock 23 with the Micro Roni Stab Gen 4 kit on it. I know it generates a lot of strong and polarizing reactions, but I can honestly say I am not a great shot with a handgun by any means and could not miss with this setup. As much as it was painful at times dealing with YRS Customer service, they have a great concept and the accuracy this setup provides is pretty phenomenal
