Are there any surplus/trade-in .357 revolvers available these days?

I have seen some, mostly from security companies or jails/prisons, in the last year or so. Not so many .357's but mostly 38's. They were reasonable but not enough to make me order one. So, sign up for some of the larger resellers and you may catch one. I rarely see them on the shelves of the local shops.

That website is dangerous! Luckily (or sadly) I don't have any free money at the moment.

Our VERY large LGS always has m64s for $250, of course that's .38spl only. They'll do mail order (Adventure Outdoors, Smyrna, GA)
But thing is, yes they're out there. Just check with the larger stores especially ones who have connection with local law enforcement.

Keep checking your lgs, eventually a classic revolver you desire will show up. That's how I picked up a Smith M-58 with 4" barrel, and a Smith M-629 with 6" barrel. A couple years ago was the Smith M-586 with 6" barrel, grab them when you see'em!
please educate me: what is the ballpark cost of the switch from dao to spurred hammer? parts from where? say, one hour of gunsmith time? i’m eager but ignorant here. thanks much!

A hammer should cost around 25-35 bucks for a GP, the gunsmith fee is hard to gauge in south Texas it ranges from 25-75 an hour.
