I'm considering getting lightly used for $700. I had a 7 and 1/2 in Super Redhawk and recently traded it for a Tavor rifle.
Currently I have a 7 and 1/2 in ported Freedom arms 454 with a 2x scope on it
That I love and essentially replaced the Super Redhawk with. Shooting one in groups with it no problem at 50 yards and ready for deer season.

Still I kind of miss the double-action Super Redhawk and I'm thinking about Toklat 5 in
As a nifty replacement.
Who has experience with these and how does the handling and recoil compare and accuracy compare to the seven and a half inch model?

I can tell you thats a very good deal, jump on it. They’re anywhere from $850 to $950 used where I live. Paid $850 for mine. They shoot and handle nice even being heavy. It still has enough of a sight radius to reach out a bit for hunting compared to the alaskan model. I had my uncle make me a couple holsters. If you want one, he works through “simplyrugged.com”

Thanks for the reply.
I just bought it for 685 with shipping and taxes included!
Only thing it didn't have the Ruger rings.
But I should be able to use a set from a Ruger Super Redhawk 44 Magnum that I usually hunt with without sights.
Or since this is a 5-inch I may not put an optic on it at all if I do probably just an Ultradot

I thought about buying one of these for a while. $700 is a good price for sure. Only reason I decided not to buy was to find something lower pressure like the 480 Ruger

Thanks,
it should arrive in a few days
I will post some pics that I owe you guys when it comes in

I have had all of the SRH lengths, and many, many other revolvers. The Toklat is by far the best balanced and nicest handling factory big bore I have ever bought. I paid $1200 out the door for my first, $950 for my second. I’d buy another for $950 in a heartbeat.

I was all set to order one when I found a deal on an older target grey 7.5" that I couldn't pass up. I still think the Toklat is the best configuration for the SRH to date.

Thanks I'm glad I made the right move I'm told it's being shipped to me today.
Does the Toklat come in 44 Magnum or just 454 casull?
I already have a 5-inch red hawk with a ported barrel in 44 Magnum so I doubt I double up and get one in that caliber but you never know

I could swear I saw a Super Redhawk for sale the other day in 10 m m, Not a Toklat.
Yeah it seems ridiculous they don't make it in 44 magnum at least.
Maybe they just rather sell Redhawks?

Never seen that option. It sure looks a bit more portable than my 7.5” .454 SRH!

Nice score .

Stay safe

Yup, it should be nifty.
Nothing wrong with 7.5 though, killed deer with that! Still have a 7.5 Freedom arms 83 that shoots the lights out!

They produce Super Redhawks in .41 Mag (I think it's a Talo exclusive), .44 Mag, 10mm, .454 Casull and .480 Ruger. In .44 Mag, three barrel lengths are available: 2.5, 7.5, and 9.5-inches. A Toklat version would be nice, but it's easy enough to have one cut down to 5-inches...

Ive had a toklat since january of 2018, i have hammered that guy with heavy handloads (almost 3000 of them since then!). No trouble, i did have to send it back to ruger for a condition with the barrel (rough area and a bit undersized) but it was repaired properly and no issues remain. Dang it is a sweet revolver, main benefit is that i can take tge 454 casull and load it any way i like and not worry about shaking her loose or blowing her up (within reason). I can actually carry this revolver, i do have a 9.5" 44 mag super redhawk that i thought i could use but it turned into a range gun. Its just too much length. Sounds odd but the toklat is currently and has been my favorite gun (long or short) since ive gotten it. I paid $917 new + tax and thought that was a sweet deal. Buy it, show us and shoot the snot out of that beauty. You wont regret it.

Is the Toklat available in 44 mag, or 480 ruger also??? I don't see that on ruger's site but that doesn't mean they aren't making them.

Ive seen a custom one done up by wild west guns I believe called a Badger. Looks just like a toklat, but .44 mag. Im pretty sure it was a custom job though.

No. 454 casull only. It's a distributor exclusive not standard production, so if you get enough people together to convince lipseys or talo to commission another caliber I'm sure they could make it happen. The 454 casull would be my pick even if they had a dozen other calibers, it's just super versatile and at the top end is more than most care to shoot anyway.
