I reload to make custom loads, or better loads than what you can buy on the shelf.

My experience, I order or buy pre-made ammo, it's 250 to 500 $, when I stop at my reloader's supply, I'm lucky when it's only
750 $. I'd have to reload @ 20 to 25 K rounds to recoup startup costs and ancillary expenses. But it's a very worthwhile hobby
for the serious shooter, especially being able to tailor loads for your favorite caliber and rifles.
 
No need to give up. Companies like Barnes make lead-free bullets.

Aren't you special. I shoot around 500 rounds per week. Barnes doesn't fit my budget. Casting bullets does.

You're telling me not to stock up on lead because it might be banned.

Might as well give up my guns because they might be banned. Crawl back under whatever rock you came from.
