What have you fired this week?

71 rounds out of my new Ruger Mark IV.
And of coarse, some 44 Rem. Mag through my SBH.
Gotta mix it up, doncha know?

BTW, the Mark IV is just as impressive as my wife's Mark III.
Think I may start to shoot small bores more again.:)

And did we not have a thread a while back titled "what did you shoot today?". (something like that) as I recall a member shooting his mouth off.

My SW 632 SS 3 inch, comp'ed, fiber optic sight in Fed 327 mag. Love that little revolver. It has quite a BOOM with the 327 mag rounds. If I had to carry a revolver because of some change in the laws of the universe, it would work me. The size is nice and the 327 rounds are no slouch - 6 of them. If I had to carry a SAA, it would be the Ruger 7 shot version.

IMG_8283.JPG My buddies 300 Weatherby that I reload for. That brake really works well. You know you're touching off a 300 Magnum but it's not too bad.

Hi...
Spent a few hours at one of the local gun clubs today.
Filled two large empty coffee cans with mixed brass... everything from 9mm to .44Mag, probably 600 pieces of brass in those two cans.
I will probably spend a couple hours separating it tomorrow and then start the tumblers.

My son and I introduced a friend of his to shooting today. He seemed to have a really good time. He sure shot an awful lot of rounds. He really liked my Cimarron lever action 1873 in .45Colt.

Rain the majority of the weekend and spent most of SAT helping a friend set up hi crossbow and zero it. I did get out back this afternoon to practice some prone and off a tripod with my deer rifle at 220 and 307:

Didn't have any issues prone, need to work more on the sitting with a tripod. I'm ringing steel, but the groups aren't where they need to be.

Since its a new week: two armadillos in my orchard, and a skunk. Armadillos got the M24 Winchester 16 gauge, with an ounce and eighth of #6 shot. DRT. Skunk got the 10/22 Mannlicher. One 36 grain CCI hp sent him to his (rather smelly) end. Also got to shoot my little 190 Winchester .22 a bit this afternoon. Its turning out to be a likeable little gun, especially with .22 Shorts. I may do a write up on it in the near future if it continues to do well.

At the gun club in the military matches Sarurday:
IBM 1943 M1 Carbine, .30 Carbine
Yugo M70AB2 rifle, 7.72x39mm
CZ vz 52, 7.62x25mm
Auto-Ordnance 1911A1 replica, .45ACP

Week before in the black powder cartridge matches:
Carcano 91/38 rifle, 6.5x52mm
Mauser C96 pistol, 7.92x25mm (worn barrel is .312")
both loaded with Triple 7

Week before that, I finally clamped the barrel of my Rossi Puma .357 rifle in a plastic jawed vise at home, centered the front sight in the barrel slot, went to the range, was putting 158gr .357 in the black at 100yds and clanged the hanging plate at 150yds.

Had to catch up for weeks I meant to post.

100 rounds of 9mm through my new SCCY CPX-2. Not a good pistol. Functioned 100%, but not pleasant to shoot, specifically, about one case per magazine of 10 hit me in the eye-pro. Very annoying.

Spent about abd hour at my local indoor range. Shot a box of 380 through my Pico since its one of my edc.

Exercised my 1894. It was point of aim with Academy 158gr sjhp and ( for me very accurate). Also shot half a box of 142 gr 357 mag fmj as well.

20190802_111228_resized.jpg Reported on pg 1that it was a cpl R700 cast rigs.

Put a Timney 512 set at 2#'s in my 7-08(one of the 1st pg rigs).Have killed 3 crows, missed 1 with it since then. Still blasting cast..... shot some today. I had set the factory trigger to a very nice 3 1/2#'s,and shot it that way since getting it a cpl years ago. The Timney @2# makes it a heckuva lot easier varmint shooting. Old,B&L Balvar 3-9X40 that is a sweetheart, sits in low Weaver tip offs. Shot this @100 with RCBS 145SIL mould. 2 went in the same hole, called the 3rd....out,haha. This load/rig is humbling to shoot because if it's a miss.... it's on you.

50 rounds of 45-70 thru my Shiloh Sharps Hartford; installed a new MVA Hadley eye disc and had to sight in for deer season - it is now ready for the field.

For some reason, I like that.
Well I'm not really in any hurry, deer season is weeks away or more. I got a dozen other guns I CAN hunt deer with. I just want to kill one with it since I never have. I'm shooting my own cast bullets from it and I JUST put a really cool peep sight on it a few weeks ago. Got it in pretty darn close and was plenty happy with it, THEN I just got an irresistible urge one evening to go out and SLAM that piece of steel one evening. JUST BECAUSE IT IS FUN. Seemed like that thing ECHOED off the valley for 2 full minutes, as it was DEAD QUITE when I pulled the trigger.

The hit was about an inch or two off the center and I turned the knob a click or two.

Next evening I couldn't wait to do it again...

It's only the FIRST shot that counts every day any way.

Decided to just go have fun last evening. No work, no load development, no sight adjustments. Just shoot for the joy of shooting. I took two rifles, just what I was in the mood for. I didn't realize until I set them on the bench, I had brought my oldest (1986 JM Marlin 336 .30-30) and my newest (PSA 16" midlength build). One of the best range days yet.

Was at my club's range from 9am till just after 12 today and had the whole range to myself the whole time. Put 22 rounds through the Henry single shot .308 that doesn't seem too fond of grouping at 100 yds. Gotta start diagnosing that. Then went through 60 rounds of 9mm in the Ruger PC Carbine and got the holographic sight dialed in for 50 yds.. I usually post pictures from the range but I didn't bring my Canon DSLR and my old flip phone takes lousy pictures anyway. An enjoyable 3 hours and the weather was beautiful.

Just got home from fire forming fifty 6 BR cases into 6 Dasher cases.
