Tallball

Now he only keeps one caliber of ammo out on the bench at a time.

That's what I do whenever I take several different caliber guns to the range. Once I have finished with a particular gun, I put it and it's ammo away and go on to something else.

Did the factory misload the entire case?

We only pulled a few boxes to check, then opened another case and moved on with quals. I'm sure the Training Division guys went through all the boxes in the suspected case back at the office, but I don't remember talking to them afterward for a follow up.

I always double-check now, though. :)

Went to the range with a friend who couldn't understand why his Glock 19 wasn't cycling and splitting cases. Turns out he had disassembled his 19 and his 23, and put the 23 barrel back in the 19. Yup, important to pay attention.
Didn't think that was possible.
I think that not only the 40 cal barrel but also the 40 cal G23 slide was also installed on what had been a 19 frame.

Maybe it's a good idea to make sure all your calibers are different enough not to be able to confuse them even on accident. Just sayin.
Yeah, all the different 9mm stuff is a PITA. I avoid 380 entirely, and am super careful with the Makarov ammo. A 9X18 is .010 larger circumference than 9mm luger, accidentally load one in a 9X19mm pistol and you have yourself a world class jam.

Only difference I've ever come across with 9x18 vs 9x19 was case length. They will shoot but takes two strikes provided the firing pin will reach it the second time. Never had any jams or stove pipes. Luckily it was only one box mix up when stocked. Just went on and shot them. Cured any flinching for sure.

I have 2 Zastavas one is 7.62x25 the other is 9mm.
The 7.62 is a M-57 Yugo surplus.
The 9 is an M70 new.

Very similar looking guns but different barrels & minor internal adjustments.
Have NOT mixed the ammo or mags, but I need to stay vigilant.

I went to my gun club a while back to shoot a rifle and after getting all set up, lead sled, chrono, spoting scope, I notices I brought the wrong ammo !!!., Was glad a couple range friends said they would look after my equpt while I made the 1/2 hour round trip home to get the right ammo. frustrated & embarrassed the rest of the range time went well. hdbiker

I’ve seen:
9 in a 40.
40 in a .45.
16 ga in a 12.

Makes a funny poompf sound, like a mortar. Doesn’t seem to hurt anything. Hard to reload the brass.
