Lol, @Trudeaupe

It's nice to have these smart, ethical leaders and a trustworthy media telling me what freedoms I don't really need to burden myself with any longer. Bugs instead of beef, soy instead of milk, an idyllic utopian world of no guns, plenty of vaccinations, and a tax on breathing is the future they are selling us. I'm wondering what the downsides to the plan are?

Years ago there was a doctor who worked with my mother. We were introduced socially, and he was surprised, or perhaps shocked, to find out I was in favor of mere citizens owning ::gasp:: guns. He said that his shock was because I was in law enforcement, I must have seen the horrible things that people do to each other with guns. I told him that is exactly why I was in favor of gun ownership for the masses.

This diversion from his black face scandal, will likely work. Seems there is no issue as close to the Left's heart as gun control. Banning/confiscating get's the Left salivating. Likely salivating enough that he will win, and will follow through on his stated desire to ban assault weapons in Canada, no 2A you know.

There is no legal basis for armed self defense in much of the world, in nearly all of Europe as well as in the former British Empire. It was legislated out of existence because of government's fear of revolutionaries back in the 30's and has been enthusiastically pursued ever since . All civilian owned firearms in these places are permitted for hunting, pest control, possibly collecting or target shooting. Combat shooting matches are officially looked on as simply another target match discipline. This is probably similar to what our Canadian cousins have to put up with.
It's not a Right such as we enjoy.

The government will require an environmental impact evaluation before your family will be allowed to plant your body when you die and charge your estate for the evaluation.

Some years ago my doctor told me that he was supposed to ask if I owned firearms and check the appropriate box on a form according to my response. He was a gun owner himself and said he does not ask that question and leaves it blank on that particular form. He said it was no ones business what a person owned.

I remember when that started. My orthopedic surgeon looked at me "Its none of my damned business how many guns you own." He also rode a Harley and I used to run into him at gun shows...
