Anyone own one that just dislikes it? I have one and think it is a nifty gun in 9mm. I don't hear to many folk talk bad about em. I heard they were discontinued.
Shame if so. I really like the gun. Trigger is really smooth and light, it looks pleasing to the eye.

I carried one for a while. It's a good gun just too small for me. Took me a while to cope with that as I really wanted to keep carrying it.

I just realistically shoot a gun with a more fullsize grip better and that's what my G26 with extended mag gives me.

But I certainly wouldnt discourage anyone who it fits from getting one. Never had any major problems with mine.

They discontinued it in favor of the EC9-S. Same exact gun but no adjustable sights and slightly cheaper finish. I carry the LC9S and love it. Some people complain of rust but never had a problem. I do wipe it down and spray Barricade on it every now and then.

I really like mine. I have the Pro model. One the best triggers I have seen on a pistol.

I have the LC9s Pro. It is a very nice carry gun. The EC9 costs much less and would be every bit as good for carry.
The slide on my Pro is susceptible to corrosion, maybe the new EC9 has a better coating.
My P365 has taken over as a small carry gun for summer.

I liked it for a while because sights, ergos and trigger are very nice. However, I’m one who got tired of always needing to clean the rust off the slide and mag release. I’ve owned many brands and only had this with Rugers.

I bought an LC9s pro recently. Apparently the price dropped when it became known that they were discontinued or about to be discontinued.

I have only had it out to the range once, but I was very impressed. The trigger is very nice indeed. I wasn't feeling well that day, but still shot nice groups. With the little pinkie ledge on the magazine base it fit my XXL hands well, better than I expected. I was very pleased with my purchase. If anyone is looking for a small single-stack 9mm, see if you can still find one on Gunbroker. Mine was $273 plus whatever.

I carry the "Pro" when I need something very small.

It's a fine weapon, and I like everything about it, except that it's too small for my taste for EDC.

I normally carry full size Glock 17. The little Ruger definitely has a niche though.

The rust issue is a reason I've held off on buying some Ruger pistols like this , the LCP and Security 9. I ended up with a Shield and a Pico for the rust resistant stainless steel.

I wonder how much more they would cost if Ruger made these guns out of stainless and the black coating like the LCRs?

I found an apparently unfired EC9s with one 7 round pinky rest magazine at a pawn shop for $175.00. After taxes it was still under $200.00, and the shop threw in a 50 round box of Blazer Brass. I bought another 7 round magazine online and put the flush base on it for concealment purposes. Then I bought a 9 round extended magazine and a Hogue Handall to fit online. Finally, I found a DeSantis holster (OWB) that conceals well. The little gun is accurate and conceals well. It has become my EDC in town and my back up to my S&W Model 469 on the road. I have a few spare magazines for the S&W, too. EC9s.jpg S&WModel469andMagazines.jpg

I bought one when they first came out and now it's a safe queen.

The first time I IWB carried it, the magazine became disengaged at some point on a day in which I was more active than usual (going up and down a ladder on my house), partially dropping it from the mag well. This is because the mag release button is positioned high enough above the surface of the grip that body movement provided enough pressure to actuate it while holstered. It was also summertime and after a couple of weeks in my holster, I removed it one day and noticed a build up of red rust at the muzzle.

I don't like the fact that slide removal involves removing a pin I can lose. Not a fan of the obnoxious looking "shark fin" loaded chamber indicator. It is far less accurate than my two other sub-compact 9's, the S&W Shield and the Sig P365.

Worst of all is the fact it has a magazine disconnect. Mag disconnects may be fine for a range plinker, but having one on a handgun you may need to rely on to save your life is a really bad idea IMHO.

I know Ruger has made improvements to this design since I purchased mine, but they seriously dropped the ball in the one I own.

I have one in my safe. My wife used to carry it until she got a Glock 43.

It's not a bad gun it's just not really something I have a lot of interest in.

I keep it around number one because I'd lose money selling it and in case I ever need a true concealable pocket pistol.

I have the EC9S, and its serviceable. Like most Ruger semis, it doesnt fit my hand well. Not a size thing, a fit thing.

Its a bit of a rust magnet. The micro S&Ws are my preference due to the stainless slide.

I put a Pachmayr Slip-On Grip Sleeve on my which made it fit my hand much better without compromising concealability. I like the gun. It's not a target gun, but for CC purposes I like it a lot.

I've had one for about 3 years. I had one of the origonal LC9's and never did like the trigger on it, the LC9s is MUCH better. I have no complaints for a $200 pistol. It is very accurate and dependable. Surface rust doesn't scare me, this gun is a tool no different than a hammer. The only negative, and it is minor. Compared to my G43 and Sig 365 there is a bit more muzzle flip. But for what it is going to be used for I ain't complaining.

I hear a lot of great things about them, and like you said, not to many negatives... For me, however, I'm just not seeing what others are seeing... The Shield, PPS M2, G43, and others have a better finish and just all around look and feel like a more quality product. The only reason why I haven't sold off my LC9s Pro is because it's been discontinued... The extra safeties and lack of standard sights on the EC9s...

Like was already brought up, it is a rust maginent because, unlike the competition, the slide isn't stainless AND doesn't have an armornite or melonite or cerakote finish... Like I said, I'm wasn't impressed at all, and I just don't get it...

I had mixed feelings about the LC9s Pro that I had.

GOOD
  • Size -- pocketable.
  • Trigger -- excellent!
BAD
  • Snappy -- stung my hand worse than anything except a PF9.
  • Material -- the polymer is weird: feels brittle and slippery compared to Glocks and others.
