Daniel Defense AR question

Right now I don’t have the money to spend that kind of money so I’d say neither. Plus I enjoy tinkering and putting together my own ARs.

That said not everyone is like me. So I’d say get the one that brings you the most pleasure. Or consider getting some parts and doing a budget build then see what you like and what you don’t like, then spend the big bucks on the DD once you’re sure of what you want (and if the builder bug doesn’t bite you)

If I’m not mistaken you won’t lose accuracy with that barrel if it’s a quality one as that’s a function of the quality of the barrel not the length. You’ll loose a little velocity with the shorter barrel but that’ll be a function of your ammo.

Typically longer barrels are for longer range shots.

I got a DDM4V5 because it was lighter. The entire setup as pictured (unloaded) is exactly 8 lbs. I have since added a 6.5G upper and kept the weight the same.

At 100-150 yards, you won’t really notice the velocity loss, but the shorter rifle will feel much more maneuverable. If it were me, I’d go with the SLW for your given purposes.

What kind of scope is that? I've never seen a scope that looks like that offer that kind of eye relief.

That is a Leupold Firedot scout scope 1.5-5x. I can use the very bright dot in the center much like a red dot. Basically I got this because I cannot afford a VCOG.

Ive got the exact same rifle, have a eotech on it and have a magnifier i can add if i feel i need it. Love it, havent had any issues. I recommend getting a more traditional barrel length . For a light weight 100 yard rifle maybe a pistol caliber ar may be the ticket for you, really like the looks of the cmmg banshee in 10mm, 5# 9oz with less blast and fair amount of power.

I think you already know what you want, you just want us to tell you it.

Personally, I don’t care for P&W 14.5” barrels. If I’m carrying 16” of length, I want it doing something for me.

I’d get the green over the black. So many AR’s are black, the green is a little more unique.

I agree with Varminterror about the 14.5 barrel, but for the parameters you listed, the SLW makes more sense.

Let us know what you think of it when it arrives. I bought one back in 2015, and I was kind of surprised at how much more expensive they are now.
