COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An Ohio representative from the Cleveland area introduced a bill to the Ohio House of Representatives this week that would put further restrictions on the new concealed carry law, NewsChannel 4 reported.

House Bill 528 calls for the removal of provisions that allow a concealed weapon to be in a locked car at an institute of higher learning.

Currently, permit holders can carry a weapon if it is locked in their cars. Some businesses do not permit concealed weapons, but if passed, the bill would make it against the law to have a weapon locked in a car on college or university campuses.

The Buckeye Sheriff's Association said it has not reviewed the bill, but plans to next week.

Ohioans For Concealed Carry said it wants lawmakers to show that permit holders are the problem before further limiting their rights. It says limiting the law is actually giving criminals more power and leaving citizens vulnerable.

The bill also would clear up the law's language and make police officers exempt from the concealed carry law.

I would favor it if it required the firearm to securely kept (concealed or open) in a holster on the person's person while on campus. That way it is infinitly less likely to be stolen from the trunk by some unsavory character. Otherwise, it is obviously just more of the bedwetters trying to make it too inconvenient to be armed in self defense at all the places where you are most likely to need it.

What a bunch of worthless crap. There is no need for this other than posturing.

From my college's student code of conduct.
Dangerous Weapons or Devices
Possession of firearms or other dangerous activity on University property is prohibited.

I'm rather sure that this policy is already firmly in place at most if not all schools already.

Easy solution: PARK ON THE STREET.

Well woopidy do we'll make the world safer if we make the world vulnerable :scrutiny: . Freak’in genuine geniouses. :banghead: :cuss: :fire:

Same old - same old .......

Joe Responsible ...... zilch. Criminals ... 1 ....... every time restrictions are placed and/or increased it is ONLY another erosion of a law abiding person's right to protection, and another open door for the BG's.

:banghead: :banghead:

Gee, you think academics could learn something from that law school shooting in West Virginia. Then again, some ideas are soooo stupid that only academics can buy into them.

The anti-gunners are having FITS

So they come up w/BS like this just for SPITE, IMO.

The OSC said "NO!" to their bogus Mandamus... so they need SOME kind of "win" to justify their existance.

HENCE we must ALL contact legislators saying that "It's for the kids" is a load of BS and we want our students to be SAFE, they should go about campus ARMED so they don't fall prey to criminals like RAPISTS (who seem to really like OSU's campus, anyway), muggers etc...

Only tone it down a tad - I'm just ticked. ;)
