Many Thanks for the info on the powder I USED to have! (lawn very happy!)

Another question, I have e-mailed some questions to a Company that makes a Device to make your own Gas Checks, Pat Martin, but have gotton no answers to three (3) emails I have sent.

Does anyone know how to contact them or how to get a answer to questions from them about their products??

Thanks,

Chuck

I have two dies comming that are overdue. I know he is a one man operation and PG & E keeps doing power shutoff so they don't cause more fires. Last w mail I got from him he was swamped trying to get machining done with all the power outages.

Yes, Pat is a one man operation. He lives south of Redding, CA, and consistent power has been an issue in that area. He normally doesn't keep items in stock, but rather makes them to order, so the delivery times are Amazon fast. For my first set, which was pre-ordered, but not in production, I waited six months, but they work as designed.

I have several sets of his check making dies for both gas check and plain base bullets, and I've made and used several thousand gas checks in three different calibers. As long as you use the check material the dies were made for, they work fine. I believe he has some videos on his website which may answer some of your questions.

Hope this helps.

Too bad you don't have a lathe, gc makers are cave man simple to make. While pat marlin's gc makers work, they are what I'd call the bottom of the food chain/extremely time consuming. Myself I prefer 1 pull of the handle ='s 1 gc. With pat's you setup to make disc's then reset/re-handle to make gc's.

I made my own gc makers for the 22cal's/30cal's/35cal's/44cal's/45cal's out of scrap steel.

Making my own gc makers gives me the ability to experiment with different design's/heights/thicknesses of gc's. 2 different styles of gc's for the 30cal's. 1 is square/flat edged, the other has a rounded edge.

The rounded edged gc's tend to be more accurate at lower velocities (1600fps to 1800fps)

That cast Eagan MX3-30US pictured above with the rounded gc flat out shoots.
The flat sided gc's do better with hv loads, bullets cast from a cheap 6-cavity lee mold.

Anyway, hope you get your gc makers so you can try different materials, annealing vs plain, etc.

Ok, Thanks for the up-date on Pat! I will just "Stand-by, and wait" for him to get caught up, with no thanks to PG&E!!!

Forrest r, that sound nice but all I have for a Lathe is a "watch makers" 14 inch-bed right now. I am trying to talk a Friend out of his South Bend 9 Model A, with a LOT of extras!!! Wish me Luck!!

Thanks again for the info on Pat.
