I shoot them best without backstraps and can't wear gloves everyday. My solutions of super glue or band aids haven't worked.

So, worthwhile advice is welcome.

The solution to slide bite is a beaver tail. I reccomend learning to use one, or customizing one to provide the tang of the beaver tail but use dremel to reduce palm swell, like just cut the palm swell off so you just have a beaver tail only.

Considering who's picture you have for an avatar, I would think not shooting Glocks would be the obvious choice.
I recently tried again and after 200 rounds through the 43X to try out and developed a nice blister on my trigger finger the next morning. Maybe it is the grip, but the Trigger Guard just does not work for me. I personally do not like squared trigger guards on most pistols.

I was initially asking this question for my gen4 G17 that I use for HD and comps.

My gen3 G26 that I EDC also presents the same issue. Why is it that the gen4 backstraps dont fit the gen3?

I put the medium factory beavertail strap on the 17 and am going to try it at an IDPA comp tomorrow. It's not horrendously different but different nonetheless. I'll see how it affects things.

For everything but the 26 I put the medium beavertail on it and just deal (luckily that fits my hands well).

For the 26 I just put a bandaid or tape on at the range and accept blood, as I don't have a better solution.

Edit:. I see you mentioned a Gen 3. Did you try the gripforce beavertail on the 26? It worked OK for my Gen 3 19 I guess, I think I might still have it around if you want it, I don't have any Gen 3's left anyway.

I was going to ask what Gen you had. The beaver tail should help on the Gen 4.

Gen 3s weren’t designed for backstrap changes. The Gen 4/5 Glocks frames were designed to have changeable backkstraps. Gen 3s were not.

I am sure someone could modify your Gen 3 but rather than go through the hassle it might be more beneficial to sell the Gen 3 and upgrade to a Gen 4.

I had a Gen 3 G19 that I hated the grip and the finger grooves. I was going to mod it myself but decided to sell it. Made more sense that way.

I was having the same problem with my Gen III G20. I found this simple aftermarket beavertail on Midway. It cost me around $10 and installed in minutes simply removing and replacing a single pin. I haven't had to deal with slide bite since. It does make grip a little bit thicker, which might be an issue since the older generation Glocks are notoriously girthy to begin with, and I know you stated you don't like back straps, but life is about compromise, and you only have so many options at this point.

I think it will move you from SSP to ESP

I hadn't thought about that.

After looking at the rule book it specifically says "aftermarket" grip tangs or beaver tails are an excluded modification for SSP. Since the one I'm using is a factory part that came with the gun I would think it would be allowed.

Nonetheless I'll check at Monday nights match. Thanks for bringing that up.

I was not aware that Gen 3 s had adjustable backstraps - wasn't that the main reason to introduce the gen 4?
