Ruger Guide or Remington 7600?

I use both bolt and pumps and lean towards the rem pump for mostly woods with maybe a longer field shot, my ren 7600 pump carbine will shoot my load into 1 " three shot groups groups at 100 yards. 55 grs imr 4350 with a nosler 165 gr BT for 2650-2700 fps.

Nice buck!

The Ruger Guide Gun is more appealing to me.

I have possessed a Remington 760 Gamemaster in .30-06 Springfield for a few years in a not so distant past and could not find many things to love about it, except for the gift it was, which made me remember a fine old fellow who has now passed away. I gave the rifle to his grandson after his death. The action was noisy, the rifle was heavy. It shot straight for two, but began stringing to the right afterwards. The metal plate in lieu of a butt pad brought severe punishment to the shoulder in only fifteen shots. The overall clunky effect was not a source of contempt. The trigger was not the worst I have encountered (that would be my shotgun, I think), but did not shine above good ones (CZ comes to mind). I guess I could see the appeal for a south paw used to an 870 (same controls) and intrigued by the 10 shot capacity magazines available aftermarket. And it is built like a tank.

That said, nothing on the Ruger looks frail either, and, as posted above, it looks gorgeous. I would bet a silver dollar the cycling is more positive on that one.

I wound up going with a Ruger Hawkeye Hunter in 30-06. Put a Meopta R1 Meostar 3-10x50. One nice feature is this rifle comes with a rail so regular rings can be used. 5R barrel. As well, the barrel is threaded.

Grouped 3 shots into 1.25"@200 yards/ 1.625" @ 250 / 2.5" @ 300 with 168 Amax's over 56.5 H4350. At 300 there were 2 touching and an inch away were 3 shots @1.25". These are all far more than I need so I am very happy with the results.

The load is pretty much my standard load so I had some lying around. (Of course the load was safe in my rifle but may not be in yours.....check your manuals and work up slowly).
