Attached is a link to an article regarding what Illinois is doing to CC holders. I experienced this myself, as it took well over 4 months for them to process my CC renewal. As is the norm for the anti's, Illinois is doing what they can to make gun ownership as difficult and expensive as possible. I'm hoping the SAF goes ahead with the lawsuit and joined this morning. If you haven't done so, please consider joining the SAF or any other gun rights organization as we need to support the organizations that are fighting for us.

+1 to adding SAF to Amazon smile and joining SAF. Donations to them are also tax deductible.

I've done the SAF on AmazonSmile for several months now. It's a nice benefit but I don't seem to be sending much...however pennies from all of us add up!

Hey, everyone, I did join the SAF in the last couple weeks as a response during the Walmart proclamation, sending in a life membership level. I received an email thanking me and acknowledging the donation, but have heard nothing else? Does anyone know what the SAF sends out upon membership? I think I need to have a membership number, etc, but haven't received it yet.

I don't think they send much. They send out periodic mailings and e-mails, but AFAIK they mostly spend the money fighting on behalf of the 2A, often in court. I would prefer them using the money to fight for the 2A than getting a bunch of paraphernalia from them. They are transparent, and you can even get their form 990 (tax forms) online here. Thus far, they seem to be an effective, efficient, tax-deductible pro-2A organization with little BS. They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, which probably limits what they can do in terms of what you are used to from other organizations.

They answer some things here in their FAQ. They list affiliations, publications, associated web sites, etc. in there.

Just for the record, I let my NRA membership lapse, because I felt they were spending more money on all of the crap they were sending me than I was donating. Just doesn't seem like they can be very effective if they spend all of that cash in fund-raising mailings instead of in lawsuits to prevent or overturn these unconstitutional laws.

FYI, I did, last week, get an acknowledgement from the SAF in the form of a "plaque" for life membership, a newsletter, a bumper sticker etc. Mostly, I got a life-membership card with the membership number, which joined my NRA card in my wallet.

bk42261...Well you can re-up to the NRA, now that they were instrumental in making San Francisco rescind their declaration that we were all terrorists!

San Francisco rescind there declaration

That isn't exactly what happened. The Mayor said that the city wouldn't carry out any analysis or penalties of business relationships with NRA. The Board still has their declaration in place whether it is toothless or not. NRA made sure the Mayor didn't want to cross the line into real action.

I joined up when the NRA started getting hinky.

I’m a life member of all the ones in my sig.

Thanks for posting this, great idea! I was recently surprised to learn the pro-gun groups were included in the program.

Received this "statement" from Amazon today. As was stated above, pennies do add up.
Great way to support the 2nd Amendment and it doesn't cost you one penny!

From my understanding, you can join as a member of an affiliated 2A organization for $10 per year to the NRA but you don't get the magazine or swag.
