I group of us old retired guys shoot an informal match every week and one of us is a master wood craftsman and he surprised our group with custom made ammo boxes made from cabinet grade wood. Plastic inserts were provided for 9mm/.38 special instead of .45 ACP.

Very nice, but why?

Not to repeat the entire post but..

Like asking why I built things for my nieces and nephews when they were young when I could have bought something from ikea.

The OP obviously appreciated the time and effort his friend put into the gift. Had it been a $500 gift card you think he would have posted a photo of it here?

I just hope she used this one for at least as long as it took me to build it.

Hey Bill that is a really neat early Christmas gift. Nothing like handcrafted items, it shows the craftsman really cares for his friends. Good friends are like good dogs, they are hard to come by.

Wow! That's some friend you have there. All of that detail took some time and the fact that he did it for a group would mean he has absolutely nothing to do or hes just a great guy and I'm voting for the great guy. Only downside is you are going to have to think hard about your Christmas gift to him

That is really cool! There is a lot of work and craftsmanship right there. A really great gift, from one friend to another.

Very fine craftsmanship on your Bullseye Pistol ammo box gift!

Does make for a hard act to follow though when it comes time to get him something for Christmas!

I feel that will be considered an heirloom.
Beautiful work and obviously a great friend.
