I’m looking to try a lighter hammer spring weight for an easier first double action shot in a quick defensive situation. If I drop to a 15lb spring will I also need to include a longer firing pin? I want to try avoiding light strikes as I test which defensive ammo it likes; but in a pinch (or days of hurricane anarchy like Andrew caused yrs back here in FL) if all I can scrounge is ammo with harder primers it may light strike on, I can still stay up and running.

I also own a CZ75D compact. The thought of lightening the spring on a self defense gun doesn't sit well with me. For a self defense gun reliability is my number 1 concern. That Cajun ultra lite kit does look very tempting though!

Thanks! Tho I am avoiding the M-Carbo kit as those resulting da/as weights are very close to a basic competition level spring kit; but I have considered that Cajun kit. Thanks for the endorsement, I’m going to try it! I’ve done my own revolver triggers for some time (yeah one of those old guys); but semi-autos for carry I usually had available in fine used condition with enough wear to make it smooth enough, then just lightened the hammer spring a bit.
Didn’t need to touch the old original series 70 Gold Cup I carried for years here and there, now that was a great trigger outta the box! Looking forward to installing the Cajun. As an aside, ever use a straight trigger for carry? I want to try it on a range gun but am just curious as to any yea or nea comments, afa straight comp.-style triggers for carry? Or is it more of a subjective preference in that application without more extensive lightening work?? Thanks for any additional info!

The CGW kit comes with 2 springs, one for competition which should ignite most primers and one for self defense which should work with all primers. They caution you against using the competition spring in a SD gun. Using the SD springs I've never had a light primer strike.

I carry a stock 75D compact some days.
Didn't modify a thing 1000trigger pulls either with a dummy round or live ammo smoothed it out.
Just me but, The 75 can be carried cocked and locked so no need for a d/a first shot.
I did install a full stainless guide rod.
