Solutions For Glock Slide Bite

I was not aware that Gen 3 s had adjustable backstraps - wasn't that the main reason to introduce the gen 4?

They dont. I was asking why the gen4 straps wouldnt fit the gen3s.

Upon further research it appears the gen3s are a couple mms thicker so they dont work.

I will be looking into the links provided above for my G26.

can you modify your grip?

Not in a positive way.

When I first started shooting Glocks I didnt have this problem. But since I've started getting more serious about comps and practicing a lot more I've just inherently gone higher and higher to get the best bore axis grip I can. Literally in the last 2-3weeks this has become an issue, but I'm shooting better.

Using the medium beavertail strap today definitely had an impact on POA so I didnt do that great, but I think with practice I'll be able to adapt.

Sounds like either a M&P 2.0 might work, otherwise, the SIG 365 is a nice alternative to the G26

moleskin, people use it for blisters on their feet, but might work for slide bite

That looks interesting, thanks for the share.

I think I'm going to work with the factory beavertail for the 17 and look at some of the options presented in this thread for my 26 though.

I have had 2 Glocks -gen 4 and gen 5 g19’s. Gen 5 was better than the 4 but I just cannot bring myself to like the Glocks. I have Springfield, Sig, Kimber, Browning, CZ, Ruger, and even a Taurus but I will not have another Glock. I know I am probably in the minority but I just do not like them.

I use the Grip Force adapter on my Gen 2 Glock. All I had to do was remove the factory pin at the rear of the grip and use the one Grip Force provided and it works great and I CCW it that way. Took about 120 seconds to install. They sell on Amazon for around $27 and come with two adapters. I used the larger one and really like it as it gave be a bit more trigger reach. The use of Grip Force adapter is very popular for Gen3 and Gen 2 Glocks.

At some point I will probably get a new Gen 5 Glock 19 or Glock 45 but my Gen 2 Glock has never ever let me down since buying it new in the early 90s. It is still as it left the factory other than the Grip Force adapter.

So upon further investigation it seems none of these aftermarket BT grips work for the G26 gen 3. One mentions modifying but if I have to do that I might as well buy a factory 4th gen strap and take a dremel to it.

Anyone have any more solid suggestions for the gen3 G26 backstrap?

I'm already pricing gen4s but really dont want to go through the hassle....

Only pistol that I own that bites my hand web is a Browning Highpower Practical. I have 2-17's Gen 1&3, 2-19's Gen2, and a G26 Gen 2.5. My Gen3 G17 was used for years in 3 gun matches and never has any of the above mentioned issue. I guess hand size would be a contributing factor, but I have seen shooters readjusting their grip with every shot they took. Interesting post on issues people are having. Hmmmm.........

I shoot them best without backstraps and can't wear gloves everyday. My solutions of super glue or band aids haven't worked.

So, worthwhile advice is welcome.

My advice is - extend your thumb as far forward as you can.

This will wrap the web of your hand under the beavertail and around the backstrap.

And, at the same time, will also bring the first knuckles of your thumb and index (trigger) finger in line, square, and perpendicular to the axis of the pistol - and create a symmetrical pocket in your hand for the backstrap that is essential to straight, non-low/left shooting of the GLOCK.

Kind of a "fix-all"

My scabs can not heal fast enough. The G17 is coming along with the factory BT strap, although I'm not 100% yet.

The 26 is still giving me issues, and it's mainly a aggravation because it's my EDC. Certainly it wouldnt be a problem if i ever had to use it as I'm not going to be worrying about blood gushing from my hand, but during my weekly drills it's quite annoying getting DNA all over my gun, ammo, mags, holster, clothes and loading device.

Why in the world these Grip Force straps are made to fit every model but the 26 is beyond me.

At this point I'm leaning towards trading in for a gen 4 but just the hassle of swapping sights by itself is annoying, aside from trading in and probably losing a little money. The trigger on my used gen 3 is already well broken in and GTG so that's another thing.

Last chance for reasonable options....

This innovative part allows you to grip the Glock handgun more aggressively by placing your hand higher up on the grip without fear of the slide "biting" the skin between your thumb and trigger finger.

May require modification to fit the G26/27/33.

Gen4 version also fits G20, G21, G40, and G41 Gen4 Frames.
Gen3 version fits Gen3 G20 and 21 Frames, but may require slight modification. If necessary, material can be removed from the bottom of the adapter for best fit.

I appreciate the reply from you two fellows. The only thing I've read regarding modifying the BS to fit is that the extended pins may not be long enough due to the fact that some of the 3rd gens are thicker.

I'd really like to here from someone that has done this on a gen 3 before buying.

I may gamble on it if I dont get any other feedback...still, if it ends up not working that's another $20-25 down the drain on something I'd be trading in anyway.

The subcompact glocks have the hump on the backstrap higher up than those found on the mid and full size grip guns. Maybe the issue with the grip adapters.
I too like a high grip but don't get the slide bite from a glock, i just adapt my grip slightly and it hasn't been an issue.

Every time I pick up a Glock my shots are center right regardless of my trigger finger position. I also noticed when I quickly brought the gun up to firing position, the front sight was always high. I instaled the grip force adapter and it really helped center my shots and I found when moving the gun to firing position the sights were perfectly aligned.
Too much screwing around.
Sold the gun and never looked back.
