Many times homes have been burglarized by suspects not knowing that the intended target had moved out beforehand. Sometimes quite awhile beforehand.
Police have even done this or like you said, got the wrong house.

The farthest away my rifle ever was about 30 meters. My lowest amount of arms (as it were) was 15+1 in an M9, no spare magazines in a shower. If all crap hit the fan combat wise, I knew that was just barely enough firepower to get to my rifle and the border line arms room of my hooch. Magazine restrictions are some of the worst laws ever devised.
