Have you ever found a model gun that makes your other guns seem irrelevant?

I know where you're at with it, been there.
It isn't even always the best gun you own.
The first glock i bought - november 2012- g30 sf, made my sig 1911 gsr irrelevant :what:.
I kept it for a couple years after that but just never used it, the capacity, reliability, accuracy and simplicity of the glock meant it went everywhere with me and always to the range. Liked it so much i bought a g21 gen4 a couple years later which led me to dump the 1911. The g30 was still better than the g21 so i bought a g20 gen 4. That made the 21 useless. I regret selling both of those guns from time to time but i just never used them and there was nothing they did the g30 didn't do better. Still love the g20- not many semis can do what it does- the vast majority can't even come close.
When i got a SRH toklat (seen in my avatar) it made a whole bunch of other handguns look pityful and there are a few i do need to get rid of (who needs a 9.5" barreled 44 mag when a 5" 454 carries easier and shoots just as well, with significantly more power?).
I just can't bring myself to do it yet, i've sold so many of my previous favorites that i am reluctant to sell any others. If it were a situation like yours, yeah i would sell the brig tac. Its a valuable gun and think of all the doo dads you could buy with the money. Maybe its the redundancy in caliber i can let go of more easily. But then again, i have 6 single shot 22s and goodluck getting a single one of them from me while im still breathing.
Im no help , i know.

I find myself thinking about trading away a few more guns this year to fund a TSO.

I wonder if I’d regret it though.

I think you would regret it on some level. So, why don’t you just put the Wilson back in the safe and buy your TSO. I have a few (not Wilsons, to rich for my blood) that sit in my safe for reasons that I can’t explain. You can always sell them later. Once they are gone, they are gone forever.

I've talked about this before but when I first got into guns I was all over the map and I pissed away a lot of money that could have been better spent elsewhere.

In 2013 I decided to get serious about thinning the herd and consolidating down to one caliber and one brand. I started out with M&Ps but I found that they really didn't cover the bases I wanted covered so I switched to Glocks.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't think Glocks are the best handguns in the world but they meet my needs adequately and I just can't see spending money on another gun to cover the same niche that my Glock 19 does.

Having said that though if I could only keep one gun for the rest of my life I could get along just fine with my glock 26.

Not myself and I like a variety of pistols from different manufacturers. I bought a CZ SP01 Shadow. Very nice range gun but not very practical for SD uses and I have not bought any other CZs. I shoot my HK P30L, SIG P226, and Glock 19 more often than my CZ but I am still very happy that I own it. It is definitely a buyers market for used guns so it makes sense to really think through selling a firearm unless one really does not like it anymore due to regrets of selling down the road.

Have you handled a TSO yet? I'm guessing you haven't shot one yet or you wouldn't be doubting yourself..
I have Mr. Enabler :D. My LGS had one under glass and I fondled it, and mouth breathed a little while doing so. I'm guessing the guy working the counter was a little disturbed. :uhoh:

I know I wouldn't regret owning a TSO at all, and I don't doubt I'll end up with one at some point or another. My regret could come in from trading away good shooters for a sudden case of the "I want" syndrome. But honestly I picture myself picking up a TSO and my other full sized guns just sitting around and collecting dust. I've got around 15 handguns (which isn't a lot) and honestly my job is eating up more and more of my time, so I don't have anywhere as much time to shoot as I want. This means some guns are getting limited range time.

I find myself wondering if minimizing my collection a bit more would help facilitate having fewer guns, but guns I enjoy shooting more.

Maybe the solution isn't fewer guns, it's a better job.

For me, it would have to be my "pistol of no regrets" my Super Star B in 9mm Largo. I knew at the time ammo would be an issue finding, but it has been a joy to own all the same.
The way the pistol pulls apart with a flick of a lever, still amazes me that so few guns operate this way. It fits my hand near perfect, the balance is great, sights are good for this model, has that history I love in anything I own. :)

It’s called CZitus! Yes, it’s real and yes very contagious.

But in all seriousness you should think back to what led you to purchase said firearms you are about to sell, it may give you perspective on whether or not you are about to make a mistake.
Apparently it is a real disease.

Thinking back to why I bought these individuals is a good idea. I've probably lost sight of that.

These small double-stacked 9mms with mini optics for OWB or without for pocket carry are replacing all my other pistols for everything except field carry.

I'll probably still keep the others for plinking, target and to stash around for HD.

Just wanted to say I appreciate everyone's feedback. I've never been shy about trading away a gun that I KNOW I am done caring about, or if I find one I like better with the same functionality. However this is a little more like a larger scale reduction of what I own. From maybe 15 handguns down to more like 10.

I'm still on the fence. I think there is something to be said for the idea of focusing more on a few guns and increasing your skill with them well beyond current levels. But I could also see coming back to some of the others at some point just for variety. I have a tendency to go through my home about every two years and donating things I don't use or care about any more. I think that notion maybe has transitioned to my guns, and maybe it shouldn't.

Owning over 100 guns and having bought and sold many more, no. I have developed a love for certain ones but cannot say, that I would consider other guns irrelevant because of a simple personal preference.

Define losing the argument please.

Something necessarily better.

Say, if I'm...
EDC/IWB - the G36 .45ACP wins.
Wearing swim trunks, or a tuxedo - the 3" Sig P938 9mm wins.
Hog hunting in the woods - the 6.5" BH .357 Mag wins.
Precision shooting - the SA 1911-A1 wins.

The .40/180gr. (or 5.3" .357Sig Bbl. and 140-147 gr.) G23.4 has done all of those duties, and done them pretty well.

I have found myself more than once replacing guns that I have sold off. Luckily for me, I have beer tastes and a beer budget. These days, I have the popular offerings of most of the major brands on hand and really enjoy them all. Sure, some are better for EDC, or whatever selected purpose, but I don't see myself parting with any of them anytime soon. If anything, I'm moving to calibers that start with 4. I've sold two 9mms, I'll keep the Glock 19, but I'm looking to go bigger these days. And yes, I know 9mm bullets are made with magic power inducing pixie dust these days.

That makes perfect sense

I bought an Extar EP9. a few months ago. It has just about relegated the rest of my range toys to the safe.

I love that thing.

The shiny new toy always gets lots of attention. See how you feel about it in six months.

For myself, I have a decent variety of handguns. I don't have a carry rotation, but I do have a range rotation of sorts. Sometimes I feel like shooting revolvers for a while. Then I might feel like 1911s. Or HKs, or whatever. I might not touch one particular gun for an extended period, but I know I'll come back to it eventually.

I carry either a p938, CZ p01 or Glock 30 sf. The p938 gets carried most, all are carried owb strong side. I also carry an extra mag with each gun. The Glock is carried the least because of the weight but it is on my night stand all of the time. The CZ p01 with 14 rd of HST 124 with a extra mag is hard to beat for an EDC.

Thats life though... I am generally out of the country on business, where I cannot even have a pocket knife for around 6m a year. So all of you that get to sleep in their own beds have one up on me.. :)

I find myself wondering if minimizing my collection a bit more would help facilitate having fewer guns, but guns I enjoy shooting more.

At one point I had 3 huge safes and an old school gun cabinet. I have since sold off well over 100 firearms to achieve a more manageable number. I am definitely happier I made that decision.

In a practical sense, my G26 makes my other guns irrelevant- it is the one I shoot the best, is the best compromise (for me) in concealability/shootability size ratio, with decent capacity and ballistic capability.

Not about to give up the rest of them though, as I enjoy each of them for various reasons.

Yep. I’ve been working as much overtime as I can stand for the last 19 years or so. While having little personal time is getting a little old, without that overtime money I’d likely not have only a gun or two.

About 12 of those past 19 years were really interesting to, and a lot of fun.

I almost never have to travel, and my bed is comfy.

I didn’t realize it because I tend to feel like I own too much crap, but I guess as I age I’m getting to have a pretty minimalist mentality compared to a lot of gun owners.

I like variety.

I do too, but I found that I need to take a break between shooting CZ SA/DA and SIG striker fired. The trigger platforms are SOOOO different that i tend to flinch expecting a trigger response switching back and forth. Better yet, only take one platform to the range at a time,
