32 Remington

I’m going to have to get me one of those. Did they make them in 35 Remington?

Yes they did. Thumbnail safety is fairly rare. Carbine length is kinda rare. Finding a 35 with both would be tough and most likely pretty expensive. There are a good number of rifle length 35s out there but they are the most sought after of the rifle calibers and command about $100 premium over 25, 30, and 32 Remington.

Never heard of the thumbnail safety. I looked into it and a carbine model in 35 rem with a crossbolt safety will fit the bill for me.

You guys are right, the carbines do fetch quite a premium. I won a rifle length 35 rem model 141 on gunbroker this morning. Someone already drilled and tapped the side for a scope mount so I’ll continue the butchery by cutting and crowning the barrel back and moving the front sight.

I have that exact rifle, they are great guns. I didn't even know that thumbnail safety was a rarity, neither did the gun shop. Nice shot placement!!

141s are very similar and can still be had pretty affordably and they are much more common to buy and nearly all of them are in .35 Rem.

The front sight bases are milled in and elevated. If the cut barrel has enough meat to dovetail the new front post it will need to be really tall. Or just put an old weaver on it.

The thumbnail safety is very rare. It adds 50% to the value of the gun. I assume you know that the spiral magazine safely allows the use of pointed bullets.
