M629 Caption.jpg
My first post here, trying to figure out how to post pictures. I'll post scores and pictures of targets later. S&W M629 with unfluted cylinders.

I went to the local indoor range and shot targets for all 4 classes. Like several others posted, there was the 1 or 2 flyers that changed a good score to mediocre. I fired a 2", 4", 6" and 8-3/8" S&W revolvers. We will be out of town this weekend, but I'll post correct pictures and targets the week of November 4.

This forum, unlike most others, allows you to attach pics directly to your post. Use the “upload a file” option. Not sure if there’s a restriction on new users or not.

When replying to a thread, next to the post button is a upload a file button, that is where you can add pics

So I bought Fiocchi 125 gr to do the challenges more, bought hollow point by mistake was wanting soft points, will hollow points shred the target for the challenge?

not really - unless you have a very thick backing board.
paper isn't enough to open up a HP.

Okay, I finally got around to doing this, but... nothing to write home about.

All submissions were shot double action. No practice, just the tests for submission. I have some beef with the lighting at the indoor range next to my work, but I did what I could.

The gun is a new (to me) Smith 586 (circa 1986):

Class 1
Score: 67 (I checked pretty close at the one on the line...)
Time: 25.53 (forgot my speed loader, so loading from the box)

Class 2
Score: 65

(15 yards happens to be the darkest target distance):

Class 3
Score: 30 :(

So after all that dismal performance, I decided to re-run some rounds at 10 yards and try to get those groups back where they belong.

Could of sworn I took photos, but my phone indicates that I didn't.

I did however get a photo of trying to put 5 rounds into the top left reticle image at 10 yards, and my score from the re-run is there.
I know it doesn't count, but it makes me feel better:

This was fun and got me to the range for some much needed therapy.
Looking forward to the next challenge!

strangely enough, the heavier the gun the better the score
something to be said for the weight sucking up the recoil !!!

glad it was fun, I personally have learned a lot for myself doing these challenges. Props to you doing the 15 and 25 yard double action

One thing I have learned the orange center is great for 10 yards "aim small miss small" but at 15 yards it is hard to see and doing 6 o clock on the black becomes a more realistic aim point for me. Indoors anyway.

I have some beef with the lighting at the indoor range next to my work, but I did what I could.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I don’t think I’ve ever been to an indoor range where the lighting was what I would consider adequate.

Even a gloomy overcast day outdoors provides better lighting than the typical indoor range.

I gave it a whirl with a batch of K-Frames and an L-frame.

I thought I had B-8 targets, but they ended up being smaller B-3. I don’t shoot well enough to win, so I scored them anyway.

It was very difficult to see the front sights on the M&P and 64, I’m just happy to have put rounds on target with those two. :)

Stay safe.,

Tried a few times with 125 gr and 142 gr. Best score of the day was 142 gr which I did sight the gun to at 10 yards in the past
LK
S&W 686 plus
Fiocchi 142 gr
class 2 15 yards
score 86-1x 177.JPG 100_2754.JPG

I think most of these targets are a little better than I can do. Got my HBWC load on paper for the first time last week. Single action proved it shot to the sights in both .38Spl revolvers I have, so maybe next week I'll be able to see what I can really do.
IMG_20191109_111309.jpg

The .38 s&w loads worked good too, but I won't be loading more of those till after I'm done making specials for a while.

Did my timed targets with the 686 .357, it was enlightening to say the least, I'll explain more when the get pics made.........lol

Well duh just realized I used the wrong target for the double action times, I used a B-16, and don't think I'll have a chance to hit the range again so just posting for the sake.:cuss:

I tried twice, this was the best of the two, ended at 54 seconds, I tell you I'm not use to being times, it makes me get anxious lol. The target shots started great but as time went on feeling the pressure I shot lower and lower squeezing off premature, if the clock would have been in front it would have helped knowing what was left, I did four in the 10 ring then each shot went lower and lower.

Alright friends went through the entries a couple times and checked. Garrett your post #30 with the M29 .44 I looked at it hard and believe the top right shot didn't touch the line even though the area is shredded and am calling it a 100-9x score.

And so, congrats to, which we had great entries and some ties the way I see it.

Class 1 timed 10 yards is a tie, Garrett score 100-9X with a M29 .44, and 1KperDay score 100-9X with a Colt Python
Class 2 15 yards, a tie again, Garrett with a M29 .44 score 93-1X, 1KPerDay with the Python score 93-1X
Class 3 25 yards, 1KPerDay score 84-2X with the Python

thanks to all that entered, this concludes the challenge.
