First deer with my 6.5 Grendel. About 200 yards and dropped in it's tracks. Left antler is deformed, as you can see. It's an old deer so a good one to cull out. My son was hunting in an enclosed stand about 300 yards away and never heard the shot. When we went to pick it up in the field there were more deer out including another nice buck we had to shoo away.

Cool stuff. Congrats.
I haven't been here for a while but mosey on over for the hunting stories and pics.
I'm in western Pa on the edge of a residential area.\.
A local LEO manages the 14 acres next to my place and will not allow me to hunt there.

Instead, I put a a tree stand on the 135 foot back side of my lot.

I had a game cam out early and got a shot of what I thought was a nontypical buck.
Its a small bodied deer but a cool looking rack.
This was a shot of him from an overhead camera.

Our early archery started on 21 Sept. I'm in a special regs location.
Anyway, the first morning I was up in my tree at about 6 AM and just after 7:30, along he came.
He gave me a bit of a quartering to shot but almost broadside at 15 yards.
The Ten Point Wicked Ridge FX4 with Spitfire 100s did their job.
Since I'm 20 feet up at 15 yards, getting a double lung shot usually doesnt happen.

Here he is about 90 yards out.

I got a complete pass through.

A week ago, I was back up in my tree and had 5 doe stop by. I picked one.

She went a bit further but the shot was 15 yards and also a pass through. Same bolt and Spitfire ( new blades)

My tree stand is 75 feet from my house. a couple years ago I had a zipline to the platform which was pretty cool.
The buck was my early 70th birthday present. I suppose I'm officially and old ass now.

I dont generally get anything mounted but this guy is going on the wall.

So I switched stands with my son and out comes this one. Also about 200 yards DRT with the Grendel. A lot of mass for our area. This one had a severe limp and likely wouldn't have made it through the winter so it was an easy decision. Yes it's been a good year. Two bucks in two days. It had been about ten years since I'd shot anything. Would much rather my boys do the shooting but that's how it goes.

I took my grandson back to Upstate New York where I deer hunt for a week the end of Sept. And the first week of Oct. Took him our squirrel hunting and he shot his first game animal.

I go back on Novemver 13th for the opener of deer season on the 16th.

Stout looking grandson you got there, he looks like a fullback in the making. Got that proud smile on his face too.

New York rifle season opens up in two hours with a little luck I mihjt have a picture to post here shortly. I had three nice bucks on the trail cam my son set out for me a month ago.
One really wide racked buck. Looked to be a seven point. Looked like it was missing the right tine by the skull.
I have two doe tags so first good size deer will be posted here shortly, I hope.
