I bought my first Tikka this year and have been less than happy. The problem I'm having now is with magazine retention. It's a .308 and every time I fire the recoil causes the rear of the magazine to drop down far enough that the bolt won't pick up the next round. I have to manually reseat the magazine between every shot. As you may know the T3x has no rear retention point for the mag. It's held in the well by friction.

I've tried three different factory magazines and had my gunsmith look at it. He thinks it's a poor design and put a piece of friction tape in the rear of the well but without luck.

I have a Boyd stock on it today but the problem existed with the factory stock. Beretta customer service has been unresponsive although I emailed them again today.

I know there are a lot of glowing Tikka reviews online, that's what convinced me to buy the T3x, but I've had multiple issues with mine.

Any suggestions other than selling the rifle?

Yes. Call them, get a RMA, and send it back. Everyone makes a rifle with problems from time to time. And this one seems to have a problem that needs addressing.

I've had nothing but good luck with Tikka rifles. Never ran across anyone else having magazine issues.

Don't emai, call and talk to someone. I'm betting it is a simple fix. And I'd go back to the factory stock

my problem with 2 tikka,s in .223 is that if you work the bolt slow on the return stroke the shell pops out of the magazine and jams, if you work it briskly I have no problems. if you are going after anything that may bite you I would carry another rifle.

It takes some effort to get mine properly seated, especially with the bolt closed.
