The steel case would not be deformed as much, if any by the out of spec chamber or set back barrel. I agree with 243winxb, get some factory brass ammo and try some of it through your gun. If that splits, you know it's the gun. If it doesn't it was that batch of brass/loads.

tgun0223: I have had the same issue with 20 year old remington 7.62X39 small primer brass. I friend who saved his brass but never reloaded, gave me his stash of once fired cases. Most were 15 to 20 years old The resized fine, and shot well too. My first reloading of these found about 20% had the exact same splits as in your pictures. My second reloading had about half with splits. I tossed those still left and bought some Star-line cases. No splits after 5 reloadings so far.

this problem WAS really bugging me , last night i was looking at the bolt i noticed the extractor was protruding in to the bolt face recess i compared it to a 5.56 bolt face the 7.62 was inside the recess a lot more, this morning i removed the extractor beveled it to the out side and little larger radius sanded with 2,000 grit and polished it, reassembled and went to test, seamed to be the fix, No splits looked like the extractor was shaped for the 5.56 and it was catching the extractor about 70% of the time and shoving the round in too far and setting the shoulder back jamming the neck and causing excess pressure and splits, shot 20 rounds today no set back NO more splits! dont know if this new rifle came with the wrong extractor or what? any way with the group reply,s helped me eliminate and look closer and found the problem THANKS
