I cant seem to get the gun to group better than a bit over an inch. Ive tried 4 loads of varying weights and still nada.

Re headapace
Maybe firelap

What ammo have you tried? If you haven’t yet, try Hornady with an ELD or ELD-x bullet.

It could be the rifle but lets look at some other things-

Are you capable of shooting a rifle inside of an inch?

What scope and mounts are you using?
I am.
Im using a vortex biper hs 6-24x50 and cheap wever mounts on a 20 moa egw picatinny pase

-Make certain the rings are tight

-Check the torque on the action screws

-Check to be sure that the stock is not contacting the barrel

All new rifles need a few rounds through them to smooth out the barrel before you start getting optimum accuracy. Some only need a dozen or so, others need a few hundred. If it is a new rifle don't give up too soon. Savage has a reputation for accuracy. They also have a reputation for rough barrels from the factory that need cleaning more often and often take longer to break in.

Ive tried the 143 grain eldx and it was the best load but still just over an inch

Are you saying you tried factory ammo and it is still not grouping?

If that is the case, it might be time to give Savage a call...

Have someone else shoot a few groups and see if they get similar results. Assuming you getting 1 inch at 100 yards? That's not a bad group at all.

How were the groups shot? Prone, bags, bipod etc? I'd make sure those rings are doing what they're supposed to. That can play heck with a rifle.

Group shape? Vertical line, horizontal line, triangle?

Email Savage and request a look by them.

Purchased the same item as you and the same results as you. They replaced the barrel, better accuracy, but not great. Purchased a Criterion from Northland and am very happy with the results.

The barrel is free floating, if you could recommend what torque to use on the action screws that would be great because i cant seem to find any info ont that, the rings are tight as well. I was shooting with a friend and he got a tad bit better groups than i at about one inch. We were using a caldweld lead sled i believe. The groups were triangulating. I think im gonna wait till after i have 100 or so rounds through the barrel before i call savage. Thanks for all the tips. Oh and i have only used factory ammo so far
