I'm very interested in trying out cowboy action shooting, but I've discovered that the baseline requirements are a significant barrier to entry. The nearest club that hosts matches is a couple hours away from me, so I don't have the easy ability to stop by and get preliminary information from participants.
I've already got a couple of the guns needed (a Colt SAA replica and a lever-action repeater) and am collecting the rest, but my understanding is that I also need a two-gun holster rig to compete. Based on some cursory web searches, it appears these run from $200-$500+. Does anyone know if there's a simpler (read: cheaper) way to get a rig? Does it need to be a full-blown leather belt and holsters?
