Multiple guns in the same caliber.

Three .22's a revolver a pistol and a semi auto rifle. Nothing else is duplicated but I would like to get a second 6.5x55 and retire the Mauser.

.22lr = one of each type made including an NFA
9mm = again one of each type including a revolver
45acp = 2 is one, one is none
Makes ammo selection easy when shopping, but now I might just switch to shotgun as ammo has gotten controversial so I need more dies to reload with.

Multiple guns in the same caliber? I probably have at least 18 or 20 pistols in 9mm ... four or five striker-fired, two SAO and the rest DA/SA (TDA).

A better question would be: "Who doesn't have multiple guns in the same caliber?"
Exactly. Why wouldn't one? Gotta have back-ups ...

I have a pretty small and conventional line-up. Mostly .22LR, 9mm., and .45 handguns. A few revolvers, rifles, and shotguns round out the collection.

Since most of my guns are just for fun I have no need for specific calibers so I try to keep to just a few. Most of them are .22, .38/.357, 9mm, 12ga, 20ga, and 5.56. This keeps ammo inventory simple.

At any given time about 4-5% of my firearms are out of service and in need of repair so I think having only one gun in any given caliber or gauge is silly, but I am well stocked in ammo.

Another factor besides having a properly functioning weapon is knowing what it is capable of. Just ask the people that tried to show off the Tesla truck,...

I don’t have any repeat calibers which sucks from a reloading standpoint...

I have a lever gun in .357 mag and I think I need a Ruger vaquero to match.

I also have a revolver (super Blackhawk) in 44 mag and need a long gun to match.

I’d like to stop acquiring more calibers so I can just stick to reloading for what I’ve already got but I like exploring new ones. Think I’ve finally reached a point where I’m happy with the breadth and now I can go for depth.

I used to reload when I had something called spare time. I was working 40 hours a week with weekends off so I had time to roll my own ammo, however, that said at the time I had one centerfire handgun. Hey, it was 1975 and I'd just bought my first rewallawah.

Right now I have two rifle/handgun pairs in like calibers, as you, .357 and .44 magnums.

Oddly, three of my favorite guns I reload each time I shoot them, they're muzzleloaders.

I love my double deuces. The guns aren't exactly inexpensive but the ammo is and they are accurate and fun. And since we buy the gun once and the ammo is an ongoing expense, the ammo cost is something of a factor.

A follow up to my thoughts here. The other day a guy came in looking for a .22 to let his young son do some shooting. Son is still bothered by the recoil and noise of his 9mm. Anyway, he thought they should be going for significantly less than his 9mm. I tried to explain that it takes about the same technology and machining to make same level quality guns and also 9mm is arguably the most popular caliber handguns made. more quantity means you can spread tooling costs over many more units sold.

He was comparing a used Taurus 111 he'd bought and the Ruger SR22 in my case. He said he'd had some ftf issues with the Taurus and I told him I'd given my wife an SR22 for her birthday (It's a lot cheaper than the FN57 she'd bought herself) and had no failures, liekwise with my Smith Victory or. for that matter, any of my other .22 handguns. Tried to explain you buy the gun once and the ammo is the ongoing expense. Said he'd be back. We'll see.

First I have a lot of catching up to get close to GUNNY. But there is hope, I actually own three 40S&W pistols. At the same time I reload for, lets see--38 different cartridges presently. I will not count the military and .22 ones though. The only ones I do not have multiples of are 300WSM, 500NE, and 25-20 SS. A lot of them I have rifle handgun combos as well. Even 30 Carbine and 500S&W have combos.

I have 6 Mosin-Nagants in 7.62X54R including a 102 year old M1891. Polish P64 in 9mm Makarov and a new SCCY CPX2 in 9mm Luger.

As an example, I have the following .45acp handguns:
  1. Series 70 Colt
  2. Springfield blued GI M1911
  3. S&W Model 25-2
  4. Citadel 3.5CS 3 1/2" M1911
  5. Colt New Service

They all have specific purposes, which they fulfill well.

1 is my bullseye wadcutter gun. It's got a slide mounted 1" UltraDot.
2. is my bullseye ball gun. It's got Bomar front and rear iron sights.
3.is my primary bullseye revolver.
4 is my primary concealed carry gun.
5 is a collector's piece. It was a gift from my late aunt's boyfriend who took it off of a Mexican criminal when he was a Chicago cop in the '60s.

I wouldn't carry the wadcutter gun for self-defense, nor would I try to shoot a 2700 with the Citadel.

Every once in a while, my mother will ask me why I have so many guns. I just ask her how many pairs of shoes she has and whether she wears house slippers to go out to dinner. Why does she have so much stuff in her kitchen drawer? Wouldn't a spork be enough?
