I have to show you my new Xmas present. A used pistol from Aim Surplus. This was not what I expected from a "standard grade at $230. My pictures are not the best as I had no sunlight to work with.

There is just a minute trace of holster wear on the edge of the slide, but the rest of the gun is like brand new. You can't have too many guns so get one of these Beretta 81's.

Congrats on the early Christmas present, to yourself! For a "standard grade" selection that's a very clean looking gun!

total recoil: Very cool Italian you have!
I'm curious whether the Italian govt.(or an It. corporation) suddenly decided to export these older guns to the US; possibly a "third country" had them stored for many years?

A friend recently bought a very similar police Beretta from the 1950s (?), which is 'cock and lock' like a 1911.
Yours appears to have a DA/SA action?

You friend likely has a M51. These were single-action 9mms which used a single-stack magazine. They are excellent pistols.

Wow, very nice!

Thank you for all your kind comments. I had no idea if it was da/sa so I just checked. It is double action capable! It is so clean that I did not even run a patch thru it. I have dropped close to $900 in one month on guns so I don't know how the wife is gonna take it when I order a second one. Maybe if I only have one out at a time she won't notice.
You cant have too many guns, or too much ammo. (Quoth the Gunney Sgt.) You can have too little cash! (quoth me)

Make room on the Beretta 81 bandwagon!
Mine was a couple of bucks less and looks unissued. What class , what a joy to shoot.
Enjoy your Beretta.

PS - If anyone knows the story regarding how it came to be that so many of these Beretta have entered the market , and in such good condition , I'd be interested.

total recoil:
The majority of my gun acquisitions have been with the cash from selling various handguns/rifles locally on Armslist TN.
I list almost all of them about 10% below the used retail market prices. The ads draw almost immediate attention ("pics please...").

Beautiful pistol. Give us a range report after you get a chance to shoot it. Did it come with one mag? What is the capacity of the mags with these?

It is a shame that magazines are so hard to find and like 50.00 each when you can find them for the few minutes they last. I would love one but would want several extra mags so it is not worth it to me...nice gun though!

total recoil,
Very nice Christmas present. I would love to get an older Beretta but other gun purchases are higher priorities. And living in CA limits these types of purchases.

That looks like a wonderful new toy. Enjoy it!

If all gun manufacturers died and all that was left was Beretta I would still be happy.

Buying Christmas gifts for yourself is always fun because, you get to spend your money on things you want.
Much better then your wife spending your money on you for something you don’t want.
Have fun with your new toys.
