Early/Rare Glocks

Wow, just wow... Am I the only one who notices that it looks almost identical to the current crop of Glocks minus the grip texture going on about 3 decades later? If someone didn't mention it, I would have thought that someone took a dremel to a current model Glock.

I'm not a Glock guy, and never seen a Gen 1 or 2 before. Good thing Mr Glock didn't get into the cellphone or personal computer business because these would still be popular.

I was very pleasantly surprised to get stoooopid money for an early 17 when I took it to Antique Arms, Vegas last year.

I had a number I was very happy with and a pal came buy and told me to nearly double it. When I smiled, he said; "No, really... DO IT. If you don't sell it for (the higher number), I'll buy it for 100 more than you're asking - but - I know I won't have to."

Apparently, I had a 10mm that had something going on for Glock guys too. Amazing to walk out of Antique Arms that weekend with so much money from plastic pistols. Might, shoulda kept the 10 though.;)

Todd.

Really? Their marketing catch phrase is what triggers you?

But this is OK?

Or this gem...

Sorry, not on the same plane as claiming your product is "Perfection". "German Precision" is not unreasonable (ever seen a BMW commercial?), while the Keltec ad is just dumb.

Pretty much everything triggers me about Glock, ranging from poor ergonomics, misleading "safe action" design features, false claims of natural "superiority", mindless Fanboy groupthink, and questionable marketing practices.

The ergonomic resemblance is striking...

I think it’s funny that I can remember when older Berettas, S&W semi autos, and many other handguns were the guns certain people looked down their noses at and now some of these guns are “collectible” and considered “rare” in some cases. I remember when Italian revolvers were poo-pooed as garbage and junk and now have a niche following.

It’s all about perspectives and such. Lots of folks look down their noses at Glocks. I could see a time when Gen 1 & 2 Glocks are “collectibles” while other so-called “esteemed” guns made during that same time period are looked on as just some old gun. The market and people’s whims can be fickle sometimes.

Holy crap, I’ve never seen the inside of an early Glock case. This seems like an extremely unsafe design, a ND waiting to happen.
Only if one had a habit of keeping a loaded gun in it.
One if those resides in my gun safe Oldest son has a 17 purchased when they first hit the market. I had a 21, dumped it when I could not get lead bullets to function well.

IMHO, its a good thing that Glock stuck with striker fired pistols which is what they have been fairly good at for years. Ol’ Gaston is laughing all the way to the bank with his young blond do-over wife driving him!

Bought an early Glock for $250 at a gunshow. I was pleasantly surprised when it sold for $3100 on Gunbroker. Guy who bought it said he had a couple dozen of them. People will collect anything.

First Glock I ever fired was mid-80's so I guess I've fired them all. For all the talk of checkering, finger grooves, shorter trigger stroke and a few internal changes all I can tell is a Glock is still a Glock (at least the 17's).

I'm still shocked someone would trade one Gen for another.
