Got a Windham AR-10 .308. Also got some AR-10 Mags for DPMS LR, thinking that like AR-15 mags they would be interchangeable. The DPMS mags will go in, but they are tight and won't drop when release is pressed, you have to pull em out. Is there something I'm missing here - or am I gonna sell some DPMS mags?

I bought some D. P. M. S. magazines at a sale - 4 of 'em -- and they fit my DPMS LR-308 very well but not my Springfield Saint Victor AR-10.
I've never had any compatibility problems with any other mags.

There ARE AR -10 mags that will not work. Unlike AR-15s there is no "AR-10 standard."
I'm not sure about Windham but they should take DPMS mags; if they fit and work at all, it might just be YOUR RIFLE does not like THOSE PARTICULAR BRAND magazines.

+1 On Magpul magazines. Window, or no window, in whatever capacity, they WORK.

I think what the OP is experiencing is a peculiarity with DPMS mags. They appear tight in his Windham, as they do in my Springfield Victor, yet ok in my DPMS LR-308. Magpuls work well in both my .308s, so I'm thinking the DPMS made magazines are just a tiny bit large .... just enough not to fall free easily due to friction.

Buy magpuls!! ;)

You have the 16, 18, or 20" Windham/ how do you like it?

Try with IMI mags (hard to come by) or magpul both fit no problem on my AR-10 DPMS and Aero M5 AR10.
