It was a little group but better than nothing.

Another group came in tonight and the camera was about 2 min behind to notification on my phone.

I guess they got bored being trapped this time and went back to eating.

Until the land justice man arrives.

Then they began to become extremely sleepy.

First time for me to be an hour and a half away and have 16 down.

We backstrapped or quartered the last group and fed the coyotes and hundreds of buzzards.

It was amazing how little was left the next weekend. There wasn’t much left by this point.

We had at least 24 in there last week but they busted out, at least this group didn’t escape.

Trying to wrap my head around your hog problem, I'm amazed how they just keep coming. At what point do you think the population shifts to your advantage?

Can't say I've ever seen that many buzzards in one spot.

I have heard it like this, if you don't remove by killing at least 70% that is 7 of every 10 pigs on your property you are falling behind. They breed like rabbits, unlike a deer the female or sow can breed at age 12 months and don't have to come into heat like a doe deer. Just a few can become thousands provided the food source is there. They can have 2 litters each year with up to 10+ per litter, do the math it is really amazing. The last hunting club I was in had a rule, if you see a pig no matter how big, if he/she has pig stamped on his butt, shoot him under any circumstance. We trapped them and shot them, but if they get pressured they move on. You can't predict them like a deer, they may come thru and be in a food plot or food source today at 5pm and it could be 2 weeks and when they come in it may be 2am.

Me too, they were under control for a decade or so, I guess whomever kept them under control quit. I know we has some fellows that used a GPS equipped dog to run them down but they were already old guys for tracking then.

I know I haven’t seen that many buzzards in one spot.

I figure we will have the advantage when they stay in the bottoms and or woods vs the hay meadows.

Are you trapping the hogs and then shooting them? If not, how do you keep the heard together to shoot so many at a time?

Yes, it’s a trap, you can see the rear gate better in these daylight photos, open.

Just hitting the ground.

After they have settled back down.

This is how they work.

Isn't technology wonderful.....in ancient times they would have dug a pit to capture them.

Now that would be a quick and easy way to test a new load on a hog! If it didn't work, have a standby for mercy. I love it. Can I come over and play sometime????

Damn that's a lot of pork. That many animals must tear up the landscape pretty bad. What state are you in.
Looks like regular feral farm raised pigs.
Being feral the meat should be more lean then a domestic hog and tougher to eat.

That's what a meat cuber/tenderizer and apple cider vinegar based marinade is for.
It softens the toughest meat.
As much as I like pork, I don't want the OP's problem.

Them pigs must turn good productive property in to waste land really fast..
I wouldn't mind a couple of them to put in the freezer.

WOW!! That is a great elimination. When they get that numerous, they are incredibly destructive. Good on you jmorris. I've attracted large flocks of buzzards with a deer gut pile, but nothing like the hog feast. Hope you get them all.
