I'm currently looking at the Skinner peep and the safety replacement one.
I like the idea of a longer sight plane, but don't like the idea of losing the safety because I use it for unloading the rifle.
There is also the Williams peep if I can find the correct model.
My question is; which ones have you used? If you have used more than one, which do you prefer?

I have always bought the models from Williams for my rifles. They are great quality and have always fit perfectly if they were purchased for a specific model. I have also adapted a few to fit rifles they weren't designed for with good results.

I had the safety replacement from steves....i actually still have the safety, found it yesterday.......
If i hadnt gone that route id have drilled and tapped the side and mounted williams of some sort. Id actually done the research, but cant remember which model i was going to use.

Keep your safety and install a Williams tang peep sight. The closer to your eye the better the peep works. Cost is comparable to the receiver mounted sight also. Looks better too.

I found one, needed one hole drilled and tapped on the tang of my 92, and it looks like it belongs there. I'm currently using a scout scope on it, but the tang sight remains in place just in case, doesn't bother me at all.

You might consider another brand tang sight as an alternative.

I should have mentioned that I had one of those on a Winchester 94. I didn't like it very much.
I tried a scout scope. It worked fairly well. But, I want a simple set up that will give some l similar accuracy without changing the feel of the gun.

Have a competent gunsmith drill and tap holes to mount a Williams receiver sight. Get a sight that allows for windage and elevation changes. I have a Winchester 94 that has a Williams sight with adjustment knobs for windage and elevation. I shoot metallic silhouette and need to make elevation changes for the different target distances. I have a Rossi 92 in .44 mag that I use for silhouette shooting but have a tang sight on it and it does mess with your hold on the stock. If I can find a competent gunsmith I will have mine drilled and tapped for a receiver sight. On a hunting rifle you don't need the target knobs.

I measured the action width on my 94 and my 92. They are 1.112 and 1.106.
This is essentially the same considering the tolerances of a caliper.
Does this mean a receiver sight for the 94 will fit a 92?
Nevermind. I reworded my Google search and found my answer.

I got the Williams FP. It's been sitting at my house, but I've been stuck at the hospital with my baby. Thankfully we go home tomorrow.
Now for another question. Do you change the front sight with the Receiver sight? If so, does a bead work best because it's too circles?

45 colt rossi.JPG I mounted an NOE picatinny base (fits the drilled and tapped mounting holes under the rear sight) on my Rossi 45 colt carbine. I use the XS backup ghost ring but can quickly change out to a long eye relief Leupold scope with Warne quick detach mounts. Had to go with a taller front sight from Skinner. No modifications to the rifle necessary, you can put the original sights back on without any trouble.

That would be cool if I wanted to use my scope part of the time.

I use a Marbles tang on my Rossi. Pretty happy with it and very long sight radius.

I would not get worried about the loss of the useless safety. The gun already has a rebounding hammer, no real need for a safety.

I finally got a chance to put a few rounds through the rifle with it's new sight.
First impression was dang that's a big circle.
Second impression is it shoots as accurately as a low power scout scope.
