Fairfax thinks their stuff doesn't stink.
The next Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meeting which permits live public input is December 3. The published agenda lists the start-time on December 3 as 9:30 a.m. However, public comment doesn't start until 4:30 p.m.

We need to FIRE MISSION each supervisor with demand that they place the issue on the December 3 for discussion. I have already lodged a request to speak at the 4:30 session. I have not yet received confirmation as to whether they will "allow" me to speak for three minutes.

Write to each Supervisor,
•Tell them you oppose unconstitutional gun laws.
•Tell them you want them to vote publicly on whether Fairfax County will be a sanctuary county.

Don't let their big head suck the oxygen out of the room.

The population of Fairfax County is 1,146,883.

At least 10% are gun owners affected by the proposed "assault weapon" legislation. That is ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND GUN OWNERS IN FAIRFAX COUNTY!!!

If even ONE PERCENT of the affected Fairfax County gun owners appear at the Board of Supervisors meeting on December 3, that will be ONE THOUSAND patriots demanding that their voice be heard.

PLEASE.

Join me on December 3. Let's pack the Fairfax County Government Center with Patriots.
Let's see WHO sucks the oxygen out of the room!

Are you with me?

I grew up in Fairfax. I left about 12 years ago. It was sick watching my home become a vile nasty place.

You’re right, the government there doesn’t respect its CITIZENS. They’ve become a bunch of leftist who put illegals before citizens. The worst part is that most weren’t even from Va let alone Fairfax.

So good luck. I doubt they’ll give you the time of day. Worse expect to be treated poorly. And if the state law that allows localities to pass gun laws tougher than the draconian ones the state passes expect them to do all they can to not allow any guns in Fairfax. I’d expect them to try and top DC for crazy laws.

Thankfully, I’m in Orange County right now and it looks like our board of supervisors who are excellent, are working on making us a 2nd Amendment sanctuary county. I know several of them personally and they’re being slow and methodical to ensure their actions are legal and that they protect the CITIZENS of Orange.

As a Fairfax County resident, I have to say that I agree with this. This place is a hotbed of antigun "soccer moms." Not a chance in hell that the BOS would adopt a "2nd Amendment sanctuary" resolution. Furthermore, if word gets out that gun owners are planning to turn out for the Dec. 3 meeting, the meeting will also be packed with antigunners. Nothing will be accomplished.

My great fear is that even if the AWB bill doesn't pass at the state level, but repeal of state preemption does, the county will waste no time adopting its own local AWB. I would be faced with the same dilemmas as with a state ban.

Wow! The OP has presented a plan for some type of ACTION.

Alas, there's always a wet blanket around to snuff out the mere hint of a small flame a.k.a. fire (BEST TO NOT DO ANYTHING) (it MIGHT fail).

Working in a public school, those of us who are conservative (or even libertarian) minded get to know each other pretty well. It's nice to know that you aren't alone but it always disappoints me to see how few of us will actually speak out or take action against the ridiculous statements/comments Leftists make every day.

As for the 2A, at some point it's going to come down to the question of "How much more "boot" are you willing to lick to keep your single shot, bolt action .22 or shotgun?" Common sense gun laws written by pinheads who rarely, if ever, know what they are talking about? Please.

Hopefully you hear back from many Fairfax has a decent turn out....I will pass the word to those I know from there.

There things worth doing and things that aren't. Advocating in Fairfax would be just like any other NOVA county, ultimately useless. They're just too far gone.

Luckily 90% of the rest of the counties in the state are on their way, if not already, to declaring.

IMO that's promising for the state overall.

Mark my words thing are going to get interesting in our state very soon.

I'm beginning to get the feeling that the antis are going to backtrack (somewhat) from their pre-filed bills. They don't want to stir up a hornets' nest, which is what they appear to be doing. Better, from their point of view, to do what they want gradually rather than all at once. For example, I don't see a registration provision in the pre-filed bills -- it's just a flat prohibition with no grandfathering. I expect them to shift to grandfathering with registration, and then to claim that they are making a great "compromise" with gun owners. We should be prepared for this.

You're right they're stirring up a hornet's nest for sure, and they can "backtrack" that talk all the way to not doing anything, but I dont think they will. Old Ralphy has his base to attend to.

But they're going to deal with the masses of rural VA if they dont, I'm telling you. How they deal with that is on them.

With a majority of counties on board resisting the unconstitutional laws they are trying to implement heres what I think might possibly happen. Ralphy implements law, a majority outside a handful of cities that voted for this crap dont comply. He makes a case to the ATF or whatever Fed agency he can that "We dont have enough state manpower to enforce these laws and folks aren't complying so we need help" and we have a much more dynamic situation than anyone wants.

You're right that we need to be prepared for upcoming events....

Ralph and his crew are going to ignore the rural areas for the time being. The brunt of enforcement will fall on the urban areas. That worries me all the more, as a gun owner living in the heart of anti country. I don't have the luxury of "not complying" since I won't have any support from my neighbors. If worst comes to worst, some of my guns will have to be stored outside the state until the dust settles.

the masses of rural VA

The problem with this thinking is that there aren't "masses" in the rural areas and the folks in those areas don't participate in the political process. Too many of them hold the attitude that doing anything is "ultimately useless".

The greatest success is likely like Alexander A said, through the representatives of those rural districts. Get the locals fired up to push their representatives to pull back the urban representatives. Certainly show up at the NoVA meetings and pack the hall with local 2A supporters even though 2A supporters didn't show up in numbers at the polls to make a difference, but you need to make allies of the rural district representatives if you want to counter some of the most extreme positions.

Prepare to file lawsuits against the legislation and prepare for a long court battle (which takes money).

Bullhockey unless you can show legitimate facts. That is a myth that rural folks dont vote.

You cant compete with Bloomberg and Soros money, and thats exactly what won VA. I dont understand why it's legal for out of state money to be flowed in to sway an election, but I guess that's OT. Personally I think it should be illegal in state elections.

I'm beginning to think EC's for states would be worthwhile. So some minimally marginal population lives on like 10% of the dirt and the rest have no say. Look at the 2AS maps for VA and tell me theres not a voice there that shouldn't be heard.

Folks not in the state or outside the couple of anti cities in the state just dont realize the bear that's being poked. This was not a landslide loss for the state, it was just a handful of seats.

legitimate facts

The election is the central fact that started this question and the results of the election are one of the facts you're looking for. Here are a few others.

VA has 5,628,989 registered voters distributed as below.
https://www.elections.virginia.gov/media/registration-statistics/2019/10/LocalityStatistics.pdf

Here's the turnout report by district for the House of Delegates and State Senate vote. Notice all that blue at the low end of turnouts.

I don't think they will backtrack. I don't think "they" can. The AWB bill (SB16) was introduced by Sen, Saslaw (Falls Church) - who also happens to be the top guy now in the Democratic Caucus. Too much juice there to backtrack very far, unless he wants to spin grandfathering as a great concession.

I do note that the Senate bill does not (yet) have a companion House bill. All the other gun-related legislation already has House and Senate mirror versions. The lack of a House version of SB16 is interesting (but may be coming along any day now). Saslaw is 79 years old, and probably is not going to go for another term. Most of the House delegates are relative newcomers ... perhaps nobody wants to step up to face the inevitable wrath of the electorate (unless they are in a very safe district, like Fairfax or Arlington).

Grandfathering by removing the possession language in SB16 would merely be a pyrrhic victory - current gun owners get to keep their property, but it would gut 2A rights for future generations.

One other thing they may re-examing is the extensive felonization in these proposed bills. Nearly every office is a Class 6 felony. Draconian.

Many of those 4 or 5 red spots will be in Northern Virginia .... Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria ...

Fairfax County alone contains almost 1/8 of the state's population.

However ... as a rhetorical question, do you think that all the Democratic legislators in the rest of the state like having the NoVA "elite" lead them around by their noses. At least, do you think they like the potential appearance that they are all being led by the Northern Virginia folks?

I have a faint glimmer of hope that at least a few Democrats outside of the northern counties will remember that they are "Virginian" while the folks up in Northern Virginia are ... well, behaving a lot more like Maryland and New Jersey Democrats.

Activism: play on that potential schism - get out in front of the VA Democrat legislators (especially outside of NoVA) and shake the tree a bit.

So neither one of you took to heart what I posted.

I'll try and make it more clear but it probably won't matter.

Now if all the orange on that map turns green what are you seeing?

I know I know, nothing important because the 4 or 5 spots that will remain red are all that matters.

Well, there are a lot of us that dont agree.

We heard you, we just don't agree that that will happen or if it does it is the only thing that needs to happen. You want BOTH counties in defiance and their representation blunting what the Governor tries to get trough.

Well, that was one of the liveliest crowds at a Board of Supervisors meetings I've seen in a long time. Several great, heartfelt comments during the session. No vote was taken, and scant reaction from the supervisors during the pro-2A talks. Their body language said it all - 2/3 of the supervisors sat awkwardly in their seats, hands with closed fists over their mouths. Pretty much said it all. The older lady supervisor at the center of the committee table had her head in her hands, clearly trying to tune out.

However, the crowd was enthusiastic - seemed like a very good turnout of pro-2A folks, outnumbering the Everytown/MDA fanatics.

Seems to be barely a mention of all this in the Northern Virginia media/press. Not just tonites meetings, but this sanctuary push back in general. Seems like a media black-out up here, even though dozens of counties across the state have adopted 2A Sanctuary measures. Two counties even passed militia ordinances, and one issued a resolution and letter calling for the governor to resign.

So, now what do we need to do next in Northern VA?

There is a report about the Fairfax County Board meeting in an interview on Mornings on the Mall Show, WMAL Radio, in the DC area with reporter Stephen Gutowski.
Scroll down to the 7 a.m. paragraph for the audio link to hear the 8 1/2 minute interview
Mornings on the Mall Dec 4, 2019
Here is the summary of the interview content copied from that page:

INTERVIEW – STEPHEN GUTOWSKI – Free Beacon firearms policy reporter — shared what was discussed in the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meeting and how hundreds of people calling for the county to adopt a Second Amendment sanctuary resolution came out to the meeting.

  • Dozens of Virginia counties pass Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions. Counties across the state of Virginia are passing Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions in anticipation of strict gun control measures planned by the majority-held Democratic Virginia General Assembly. Northam has made gun control a priority of the upcoming legislative session, and Democratic lawmakers have proposed bills to restrict firearms purchases and implement controversial “red flag” legislation giving officers the right to disarm individuals deemed a threat to themselves or others.
  • Stephen Gutowski @StephenGutowski Dec 2: There will be 2A sanctuary meetings in Gloucester, King George, Tazewell, Middlesex, Alleghany, Fairfax, Norton, Orange, Pulaski (Town), Culpeper (County), Roanoke (County), Virginia Beach, and Page on Tuesday.
  • Stephen Gutowski @StephenGutowski: There’s an overflow crowd here for the Fairfax County board of supervisors meeting which will consider a resolution to make the county a Second Amendment sanctuary. Many of the attendees are wearing “Guns Save Lives” stickers. – at Fairfax County Government Center
