New production firearms in Vietnam. Will they be imported?

I'd be strongly tempted by a good, magazine fed, 10 round capacity, 308 bolt action for $400, maybe even $450.

It's interesting to me to see fellas' interested in the *Enfield* more for the sake of a mag-fed, .308 bolt than necessarily for the historical aspect of an Enfield.

Wouldn't it be something if they tapped into this and built a .308 *Jungle Carbine*?

I doubt that being detachable-mag would matter too much to most folk but I personally would LOVE to have the aesthetics and handiness of the J.C. with the .308 like my FR-8.

For that matter, an M-44 in .308 or .30-06 would be kinda cool too.

Im not interested because its a mag fed 308. I have about 6 of those already. I am interested in it because 1) i love the enfield platform. 2) been wanting to use one for hunting, but the ones i have are too good of shape to bash thru the brush. 3) 308 is better options as its cheaper to shoot.

Lee Enfield, It would call my attention.
Btw is there any reliable distributors for Lee Enfield.
Guys you just gave ideas for Christmas.

I'm surprised so many people hate imported guns on here, depending on area of manufacture.

I was teaching an Armenian girl to shoot in grad school a few years ago. She was a great shot and really liked my Canik. But when I told her it was Turkish, she became upset... Then paused and said "I need to know the weapons of the enemy" and then proceeded to hollow out the bullseye with it.

So basically, I'll shoot anything and buy most things.

I have no bias on imported guns. Guns are guns, no matter where they came from or who made them. So long as they are of good quality, relatively inexpensive, and have some history to them, I like them all. Just remember the original colonists had to use what ever they could, and that meant using the "Brown Bess" the British used to fight against them. As I recall, soldiers in every field of battle will use any weapon at his disposal, weather it be the enemies or his own, so long as it works and there is ammo for it.

I'd rather buy from Communist Vietnam rather than Communist China, especially with China's new dictator who is going back to Mao Tse Tung type of leadership, he's a real peach of guy. Anything that takes sales away from China and hurts their economy is ok with me.

Washington DC is either incompetent or naive, China has been waging economic war for the past 30 years against the USA with the intent to destroy the US economy and become the de facto world power. Ultimately, most wars are about economics of some kind, and China is at war with the US, IMHO, even if they won't come out and say it.

I would also rather buy product X from Vietnam vs China - however, there's a known problem with China manufacturing goods, exporting them to Vietnam, and then exporting them to the US stamped as "Made in Vietnam"

Incidentally, I recall cases occurring prior to the tariff war.

-When things get serious, you should know how to use any weapon that you can take away from your enemy.

This is the AK-47 assault rifle, the preferred weapon of your enemy, and it makes a very distinctive sound when fired at you, so remember it.

I have deleted a set of posts that ignored a previous request not to go to politics. Warnings were issued because of that.

The thread was to be about the guns. The virtue signaling about the country of origin is just that and not something for THR. As I said to the original signaler, we buy things from:

Austria and Germany - who killed many more Americans than the Vietnamese. They gave the world the Nazis who still march even our country.
China - do you forget Korea? Keep typing on your Chinese computer while you sit in your underwear made in China.
Turkey - on the way to an Islamic dictatorship, if not there
Japan - Pearl Harbor, the Rape of Nanking, the Bataan Death March - Get a Browning or Winchester long arm, Use a Spyderco knife.

So every time someone mentions a Turkish gun, do we have to get some preachy politics?

Don't want it, don't get it. If you have a technical issue, tell us - otherwise, no politics.

The last I knew, NO military weapons could be imported into the U. S. (I retired from U.S. Customs - well, Customs and Border Protection - in 2010.) I haven't kept up with changes. However, rifles for 'sporting' purposes can be, unless a specific prohibition exists. I could be interested in a Enfield action type sporter in either .303 Brit (quite suitable for North America) or other suitable pressure cartridges.
