After asking questions getting help here from Colt owners, I finally found a nice officers model in .22lr at an acceptable price. It came with the original grips, but I bought a set of Altimont targets for it after shooting it. It is in excellent condition for a 1939 revolver. I have a number of Smith K22s that I shoot regularly. I find the Colt hammer to trigger reach to be longer, and less comfortable than the reach on my k22s. The gun does shoot well, and the old target sights are great. Just curious if others have any issue with the longer reach on a Colt, and what you have done grip wise to make an officers model easier to cock and fire.

I don't have a S&W to compare to, but have no trouble with my right hand grip on the original grips of Colt OM while cocking the hammer with my left thumb. This gun continues to amaze me, yesterday at the range I got another .37" six shot group at 30', from a rest.
