Walmart Ammo Prices

WWB 9mm , 200 rounds - $30.
WM wants to sell me brass cased boxer primed 115 gr fmj 9mm at $7.50 per 50 / 0.15 per round - I'm buying.
Where else can I find an entity that is a) anti gun , and b) willing to support me in shooting guns?
200 WWB was under .14 a round at my Walmart, so a few dollars under $30. I don't always have money to buy bulk online, so for me, Walmart was an avenue where I could buy a range session worth of affordable ammo for range and self defense at a moment's notice.

The new policy saddens me.

I was in a Walmart last week and they still had plenty of two to three and five five six and 7.62x39 Etc.

They were having a sale on hundred 50 grain core lock 30/30 ammo. $10 and change per box. I almost bought some just to have it, but I'm not sure I have a use for it so left it on the shelf for local Hunters.

Ok, maybe just shop at Dick’s, no age requirement.
Don't shop at WM but do shop at Dick's? This makes no sense to me. But then the object of this thread was to inform of good prices, not to impose our will on others.

My purchase of closeout merchandise does not reward poor choices by mgmt. It takes advantage of them.

Urban police ... Dick’s .....I think this is a good time to opt out.

Dick's and Wal-mart are quite on par with their anti gun sentiment. Both claim that the decision to stop selling ARs in their stores has stopped mass shootings in their areas. And pistol ammo is evil! And they donate money to Michael Bloomberg, as if he needs it in the first place.

I was told today my local Walmart is stopping handgun ammo sales Dec. 29 and whatever is left is being donated to the police dept. Not sure whether to hold out and wait for a drastic price drop or get some more before they sell out.

I don't see why they would donate a bunch of random rounds of ammo to L.E. just about all of which they probably aren't even approved to carry. There's no point in them firing non carry ammo in their pistols, and again, many of the calibers Walmart carries aren't even used by L.E. like 7.62x39, 22lr, 38 Special, .380, etc... Makes more sense to me that they'll just discount it until it sells.

Doesn't make sense to me either but I've been told by two employees I've been dealing with for years that the ammo case is being removed in early January and the ammo has to be gone by then. It may be only the case in my local store. Could be "donate" to PD may mean "dispose of" by PD. I had the same reaction as you stated when I was told and don't get why they wouldn't sell it for any price rather than give it away. Walmart probably can just write it off as a loss.

Again people, it goes store by store. I find the 'donate to the PD' thing highly suspect, but weirder things have happened with Walmart. In our store, when the pistol and 5.56 and 7.62x39 are gone, they will move some of the shotgun shells into the lock case.

It's just about over now at my local Walmart as far as handgun ammo goes. I scored three 250 round mega packs of the UMC 38 spl FMJ for $35 per 250 rounds. Day before yesterday they were marked $59. Pretty cheap plinking for my model 10s. 750 rounds for $111 after tax =.14.8 cents a round. I was told they will not be receiving any more shipments of handgun ammo except .22 and whatever they have left after Dec. 29 will go to the state police to use or dispose of. Take that with as many grains of salt as necessary.:)

I stopped by earlier today to see what they had left at mine. Went last week and shelves were pretty empty. Today they had things that weren't there last week, so they're either getting shipments still or clearing out the storage at that location.

Got 2 150 round boxes of Win American forged steel case for $11 each and a box of the same winchester in a 50 count box for $4.50. After tax that's about 8 cents a round. I don't see it getting much better than that, but who knows. This was the only 9mm left, I'm guessing because it's steel cased. All of the 45 Auto was still pretty close to normal price.

I'm conflicted on buying ammo from them. When my wife drags me in well I wanna get some cheapish ammo. Then again don't want to give them my $. Academy is down the street. When im specifically buying ammo I go to them.

I wish I had an Academy just down the street , but I don't. (Wisconsin) I'm told that end of the month is it. Until then I maintain my policy : If WM wants to enable me to do more shooting more for less $$ I'll take what I can get.

Yeah, it must be company wide, our store has the same instructions. Clearance and any left goes to the police in the 29th. I scored some Win. .233 55 FMJ today, tomorrow is payday.

Just picked up the last three boxes of Federal 38 special +p micro HST 130 grain, my preferred carry load, for $13 each. The ammo case is pretty empty with only 40 and 380 and some random carry loads left. He told me the same thing about being gone by the end of the month with the remainder going to the police department.

Remington brass 250 rounds of .380 ACP for $35
Federal brass 100 rounds of .45 ACP for $17

200 rounds of 9mm aluminum Federal for $17.

I went yesterday to see what was available, surprisingly most everything that normally is there was, except .357 and .44 Mag. I had gone to get some .357 if they had it, but they didn't, however most of what my local Walmart had for .357 was 110 grain stuff that flame cuts the top straps, so not a big loss.

I did need .380, so I got 400 rds of that, and while I didn't need any 9mm, I knew it was going to disappear so I got 800 rds of that. .45 ACP, not a great price, but I don't shoot it much and got 200 rds.

I didn't bother with .40, I have plenty of that and nobody shoots it around me so it will be there next week or the week after.

What I was interested in seeing was how low the prices for unpopular calibers like .25 and .32 would be and .25 at $11 a box is not bad, cheapest I've ever seen .25 for, but .32 was the same as what I could get online. I don't expect any of these calibers to sell, so I'm gonna see if the prices drop any further. If they don't, I'm gonna go in at some point before year's end and haggle with a manager and tell him I'll buy ALL their remaining .25 and .32 for $5 a box instead of them giving it away for nothing.

The sad thing about my location is that none of the Walmart's sell hollow point ammo, so I won't be getting the opportunity to stock up on that stuff.

Yeah, after seeing how none of the .22 rimfire ammo is getting discounted, I don't think Walmart is getting out of completely dropping ammo sales. They'll just stock the case with .22, shotgun ammo, and maybe some hunting rifle ammo in stuff like .30-30, .45-70, probably a lot of muzzleloading stuff will be coming too.

I have to believe that Walmart makes a lot more money selling .22 ammo than they do any other caliber they have outside of 9mm.

45 ACP, 38 Spl for $7-$9 Tula 223 $2.50 380 auto $30 for 200 rounds. 9mm for $5
