Black Friday: What did you NOT buy.

I didn't buy anything as my family from Iowa was visiting. We had a great time and would have gone shooting had we not gotten the 16" of snow on Monday/Tuesday. We did watch a lot of college football though.

I didn't buy a dang thing for Black Friday.

I also didn't buy a danged thing for Cyber Monday either.

I didn't buy the upper I was hoping for because I procrastinated. When I went to check out it was out of stock

I didn't buy a Vortex Viper scope I'd been eyeing that Midway had on sale for Black Friday (with free set of probably crappy rings). But after hitting up the gun range yesterday and talking to a guy there briefly about optics I went home and ordered it anyway since the sale went through Monday.

I bought nothing on Black Friday.
I was tempted to buy another gun safe... but not very.

-Ten moves? I've moved over fifty times - and lost almost everything that I had during many of my earlier moves.

I bagged a whole bunch of gear before Black Friday this year, call it Blacktober.

This year I passed on 25% off at Phase 5 despite wanting more parts for future builds but knowing they offer 20% off a few times a year.

Brownells was begging me to spend $170 on a Magpul PRS 3 which I’ll need for a long range precision build some day. Passed.

Cabela’s had Leupold VX-R 3-9x Firedot reticles on sale for $299, didn’t swing. Then they offered the Vortex binos at $100 off online AFTER the in-store only sale and I still said no.

My PSA cart was filled with uppers I was interested in and not one came close to last year’s sale price so they sat in that cart going nowhere.

I choked back a few tears when I saw barrel deals and upper prices from Seekins Precision, Odin Works 17” Ragna forends for $99 and ToolCraft nitride bolts being given away at $70 even. All a no.

I finally broke down around midnight and snuck in an Aero upper and completion kit for $68 shipped but kept it to just 1 (I’m gonna need it anyway).

I got the wife a remote start unit she can use from a zip code away and a new countertop stove we can all use. Sadly both cause cancer in California.

While waiting for that stripped upper to arrive I got to thinking...it does me no good without parts for an upper and so I backslid a bit and ordered a Ballistic Advantage pencil barrel, gas block, melonite tube, and Luth-AR 15” PALM M-LOK handguard. Still waiting on the upper and now the handguard to arrive...I gotta stop!

Managed to install the gas tube, dimple the barrel, and test fit everything in between perusing KVP flash forwarding devices and ToolCraft BCGs. I was thinking my Aero pistol could serve double duty hosting a heavyweight precision upper if I found a good deal on that PRS stock I’ve been wanting...but that’s probably food for next year’s thought.

Nothing from Dick's.

I have not attempted anything other than food for the last couple weeks. Figure I have enough stuff already so waiting on year end inventory reduction sales.
